The course is a little above average but I would have to say its the best you can get in the area for the price and level of course playability. The pro shop has just about everything you need and Ron no smiles who runs the pro shop is ok with the accaisional, I'm in A bad mood attitude once in a while but for the most part he does his job very well. The carts are average quality and lately have been more reliable. The only issue I saw was the long wait times to pick up your food even when you've ordered two holes in advance. You may want to bring your own food otherwise you may find yourself getting passed up in play that may cause a delay in play. The food is about average and does the job. Overall the property is very well kept and the range is average. Putting greens are fine too. Its nothing like Dragonfly but is as close as you can to it on a budget. It is worth the drive me and is our preferred course in Fresno and Madera area. UPDATE 10/04/25: played today. All three tee off location at each hole are being seeded and closed. You will need to tee off 30 to 50 yards from in front of the womens tee off location on every hole for the next 8 days. Felt like we were cheating and getting really good scores. I wish they would tell you that they were going to do that when I called in to make a tee time. Then they charge you regular rates for using a not fully operational course. Plus all the greens were hole punched and very slow due to rough surface. It was kind of slow play today but was manageable. Still better than other local golf courses in the area so we had a good run today. Ordering food ahead of time is highly advisable, otherwise at least a 20 to 30 min wait for food when you get to the restaurant. If it's very busy, there will be...
Read moreI’m writing to formally express my disappointment with how I was treated during my recent visit to your course. I’ve played several times at your facility in the past and have always enjoyed the atmosphere — until this unfortunate experience.
I came to play 9 holes and was started on the 10th hole. After completing my round, I was approached by an employee who informed me that the manager had been timing my game and questioned whether I could “keep up.” He told me I could get a refund and leave if I wasn’t able to “hang,” despite the fact that a golfer was four holes behind me. This made me feel singled out and unwelcome.
Later, the same employee passed by and, in a mocking tone, said “you guys are getting faster rookies,” further adding to my discomfort.
I found this treatment to be unprofessional, unnecessary, and frankly, discriminatory. I was there to enjoy a round of golf — not to be harassed, timed, or mocked by staff. No one should be made to feel unwelcome or belittled, especially when they’re simply there to enjoy a public course that’s supposed to be inclusive and enjoyable for all players, regardless of skill level.
I’m asking that this incident be taken seriously and addressed appropriately so no other guests are made to feel the way I did. I hope your staff can be reminded of the importance of respect, professionalism, and creating a positive environment for everyone.
I would appreciate a response letting me know how this matter is being handled. This situation happened...
Read moreI visit Madera Muni from Clovis about once a month. Last time the greens were pristine with too many unfixed ball marks (another story). This morning about 2/3 of the greens suffered from what appeared to be an aeration gone bad and heavy sanding. Between the sand and the holes in the green it was bad enough to affect putts quite a bit. I asked someone in the club house and he claimed he just got back from a long absence and wasn't sure what caused the poor green conditions. Hmm. Bottom line, I won't be making the effort to drive to Madera from Clovis anytime soon at least for a few months--and anyone who drives 99 knows it's an effort to get there. The main draw was the nice greens. Also, I will note just in case someone from the golf course is reading there was alot of over-watering (soggy conditions and ruts from the carts) going on in the fairways as well as inconsiderate employees mowing around the greens like the golfers didn't exist. Perhaps the staff out on course needs to reminded there are paid customers who are trying to actually golf in the middle of their sprinklers and lawn mowing sessions. All in all, it wasn't a...
