Mid/low level service that charges a premium price. Where to even begin? I was hit by a car on my bike and spent a night in the hospital. Long story short. I had to ask to get my wrist, hand, and ankle xrayād to find out I had fractures. This could have been discovered had I been accessed with simple strength tests of squeezing hands or pushing against resistance. I get discharged with a follow up for my wrist but no follow up for my ankle, even tho xray said possible evulsion fracture. At my wrist follow up I ask about my ankle: to find out foot and ankle is a different department. Foot/ankle reviewed my xray and they said they could get me in for an appointment in 6 weeks or I could see my pcp and try to get seen sooner by someone else. No air cast, no instructions, just expected me to live on my broken ankle until seen. I had to establish a pcp and make an appointment to get an air cast. I also got an order for PT from pcp but I couldnāt be seen for 3 months (more on that later). Thanks UW for making me spend more money and time on that when I should have left the hospital with the air cast. I told my wrist doctor and she sent a note to ankle/foot department and now they were able to squeeze me in the next week. (Thank you wrist doc, but very annoying that strings had to be pulled for basic care). Finally, got my ankle appointment and got an MRI ordered that I had to wait another week for. I told the ankle doctor about my 3 month wait for PT and she said sheād send a message. What do you know, now they can squeeze me in next week for PT š. Then, the doctor reading the report took off on my original appointment and I had to wait until the next week, where it was revealed I have 3 fractures. One torn ligament that should have gotten surgery 8 weeks ago when the injury happened. Nursing staff was 5/5 great but the way UW functions as a business sucks. Would give 0/5 stars and would not recommend. You know what UW was quick to do? Collect payment. Corny, cheesy, childish.
And another thing, I am all for teaching hospitals. However, maybe we should have the expert do stitches on the face. Not really cool that I'm not completely cognizant and you had the student do stitches on my face. It took her three tries because she didn't do enough loops and it kept falling out.
P.S. thank you for apologizing for not meeting my expectations. I am sorry that my simple expectations were too high for you.
P.S.S. You don't pay about 90% of your staff enough. Your raises don't even...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm not one for leaving reviews. I usually leave that up to the Kurt's and Karen's. However, I personally have now been here myself for the last five days under their care after doing everything I could to try and avoid the hospital due to the bill I am likely yet to receive. A week earlier, my mother was a patient here for heart issues. A month before that, my girlfriend was a patient here after a car accident. "It's a hospital." Not your everyday walk-in clinic. It's just outside of this crazy busy city. I don't know what people expect coming here, but you'd better expect to wait and to be seen based on the level of your injury. It's a very busy place. It's mind-blowing to me that anyone would expect anything less. Walk into the ER department, and you'll check in then shortly after you will be called into triage, then again shortly after called upon to be seen in the order of the level of your severity. All together, I personally spent six and a half hours in the ER before being admitted, but the level of care was as best as they were capable of with the current staff on hand. After my five days here, I can safely say that they did everything they could to keep up with my needs, and I sure as heck was not the highest level patient here. In that time, I dealt with many different techs, nurses, doctors, and most of the surgical team. I would say that everyone I was dealing with, more than twenty different people on their staff. Each went above and beyond. This had been a pretty scary experience for me during my visit. However, when I had a question and asked it. I got answers. These people are busy and behind the scenes, working their tails off for you. Not everything of my experience was perfect, but I keep in mind that these are still people, not fictional superheroes that can see all and do all. All and all my experience and time here was what I expected from a hospital. Understanding and compassionate care. Oh, have I mentioned I'm still in here with at least another day to go?. I may not like the bill I'll receive, but I can not find one honest fault by the hospital or staff in providing me the very best care possible. After thirty plus years of living in the area. You will find it very difficult to find a better hospital or care in the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWas just at the emergency room and was treated unfairly. Asked for blood cultures and I was told no because it cost too much money. Now mind you Iām on Medicare and Medicaid. So that told me right there because Iām low income they do not care about you. The doctor specifically said it cost too much money and I donāt pay for it, but I guess she was meaning taxpayers because Iām low income. They definitely donāt care about low income people and would not, even attempt to try what I requested. I will never go back to any emergency room. I will never go back to any healthcare because they donāt care about me anyway because Iām low income and that comment that the doctor made about costing too much money let me know right there she does not care. Needless to say I was let down by healthcare providers today and know they donāt care about your health when youāre low income. you donāt tell someone thatās low income already going through a lot that it cost too much money for your health. Now I know my health is not important thank you very much to that doctor for letting me know. Iām not important to her and she would rather me die. Never again will I step foot in that UW emergency room or UW center because none of them care not even my provider she would not allow me to get a culture of my blood either and neither would UW hospital. Because theyāre more concerned about the prices than they are about my health. She stated that very clearly that she was more concerned about it being too expensive than actually saving my life if there is something wrong with me that they donāt know about. And I told them sometimes my blood cell counts. Do not let you know. Somethings wrong with me and she didnāt care. Never again and just let that be known to anyone else thatās low income on Medicare and Medicaid. They donāt care about you. They only care about the money and no taxpayers have to pay for it. So your best bet is to try to wing it yourself because the doctors donāt care especially...
