Moritz Marine – Buyer Beware! Our first boat purchase from Moritz Marine, a 2019 Nitro ZV21, has been an absolute nightmare. We chose them based on positive reviews and inventory, but the reality was a shocking display of unprofessionalism and a severe lack of quality control. Potential buyers need to know what they're truly getting into. The Sales Experience: Uninterested & Misleading Our salesperson, Ryan, gave the immediate impression he was too busy and disinterested in answering our questions, even though this was our first boat. He laughed when I asked if the boat would be ready soon, saying the shop was "at least 2 weeks out." This directly contradicted earlier assurances that the boat had been water-tested and thoroughly checked after trade-in just last fall. If that were true, why the extensive delay and the need for more shop time? To add insult to injury, we were told at pickup the boat wouldn't be detailed and the batteries would likely need charging – a basic failure for any dealership. Immediate & Dangerous Post-Purchase Failures The moment we hooked up our "new" boat, the problems began. As we drove off, the trailer brakes were completely non-functional, causing the trailer to slam into our hitch Then, at the launch, the batteries were stone dead despite an extension cord being readily available on their lot where the boat was sitting for atleast a whole day prior to us picking it up. Our graphs flickered with every turn of the steering wheel. My buddy, a long-time boat owner, helped us investigate, and what we found was appalling: Dead/Faulty Batteries: Batteries wouldn't hold a charge (only 3 of 5 were eventually replaced by Moritz). Shoddy Wiring: The kicker battery cables were hooked up incorrectly, and the wiring under the console was a complete "rats nest," impossible to trace. We found multiple wires not even in use. Critical Systems Not Working: Both bilge pumps were non-functional (one had a busted/cut electrical connector, and a hose was completely disconnected). The livewells didn't work, and the navigation lights were out. Engine & Trim Issues: The motor wouldn't go over 5k RPM regardless of trim or jack plate settings, and the trim switch on the kicker only went up, not down. The "Resolution" Process: More Frustration and Broken Promises I called Sales Manager Justin first thing Saturday morning, less than 24 hours after purchase. He agreed the situation was unacceptable and promised they'd make it right, even offering to truck the boat back to us after repairs. Trusting his word, we made the 7-hour, $250 round trip to drop the boat back off on June 7th. After that initial call, I never heard from Justin again unless I specifically asked to speak to him. While the service writer, Jeff, did keep us updated for the most part (and I have no ill will toward him), the repairs took weeks. We were initially told "a week, no more than two." We finally picked up the boat on June 29th, three weeks after dropping it off, and everything still wasn't fixed. Jeff said he was just waiting on a brake line and would ship it to us, but we're still waiting for that brake line to arrive. Justin then told us they were "too busy" to truck the boat back as promised. Ongoing Problems & Zero Accountability While the wiring now looks better, and the bilge/livewells work, the busted bilge hose inside the hull was left unrepaired. The final insult? A week after we picked the boat up, the front hubs on the trailer completely went out, requiring more unexpected repairs and expense on our end. Moritz Marine claims an "extensive pre-sale checklist," but it's clear it either wasn't completed or was done so negligently that it's worthless. We bought a used boat, but we expected basic functionality and safety features to be in working order, especially from a reputable dealer. This entire experience has been incredibly stressful, time-consuming, and costly, turning what should have been an exciting purchase into a massive headache. Avoid Moritz Marine if you value your time, money, and...
Read moreThis will be lengthy. So May of 25' i bought a used boat. To start, Ryan the sales guy must melt in the rain because he was not very helpful when I showed up to pickup my boat while it was raining, instead boasted about the high dollar barletta he just sold a guy. Immediately making my used boat sale seem unsubstantial. Whatever, I was happy to buy a new fishing rig for my family and memorial day was around the corner. We took it out to the lake for the holiday and noticed water getting in the oil so we took the boat back in and they were great at first saying it will be fixed asap, that gave us comfort. Well after a few day they said they water tested the boat and everything was good, so the weekend came and we took the boat out and thats when it went downhill, I launched the boat and by the time I got the truck parked and back to the boat my wife had shut it off because an alarm Was coming on, good christ, Right! Well I pulled the engine cover and checked the oil, low and behold it was low and had water again. Annoyed, we quickly loaded the boat on the trailer being sure to not run it more then absolutely necessary. Off the Moritz we took it AGAIN, this is now roughly June 15th. They assured us it was a simple mistake and they would have it figured out for us asap. So from June 15th to the 30th of July they had this boat "practically half our good season" oh well, thats not what passes me off. These guys would say they would call and never call to update us instead, we had to be the "annoying" customer to call for updates because they just wouldn't even after saying they would. They said they would work with us and make things right, well they did take care of the bill for the things they did but when we put the boat on the water again, you guessed it! ALARMS going off within minutes. I was so sure of their incompetence that I never even took the boat off the trailer, just backed it in the water on the trailer. Sure enough they said it was water tested too. What a lie! I called today, August 5th to talk to service and when I asked for service I was hung up on. Oh! Thats not the first time, the sales manager also hung up on me at one point during all of this too! Either way, I hope this review and the other poor reviews helps someone in the future. These guys are pathetic and shouldn't be...
Read moreWhere do I start? We drove 5 hours on a Saturday to look I thought at 2 boats that were exactly the same boat that the North Dakota Game Fish and Parks had traded in. When we got there only one boat was ready and the other was being cleaned and gone threw. So we settled for the boat that was ready and been gone threw. Don't get me wrong I love are new boat!! But when we went out last night are bimini top wasn't the right top for the boat. So I have text are salesman with no response. When I was looking at the pictures on the internet it didn't even look like the right Bimini Top. So I went back and looked at the other boat that was not on the lot when we got there. That boat has two extra seats then came with ours and a nice bimini top snap in carpet? So my question is I probably would of took the NICER boat if it was there when I drove 5 hours to look at them. Just seems to me they took all the nice equipment put on one boat because of the deal they made with me..Yes maybe I should of went threw the boat more when I got there on Saturday at 1 when they close at 2 but being the nice guy I didn't want nobody to stay late..
UPDATE: I got a hold of Eric the Salesman and he apologized for the Bimini top not fitting. The owner Jordan also Text me and said he would have a new suntop and seat delivered to my area. So going to change to 4 stars it would be 5 if I could of looked at both boats for such...
