I am adding to last year's review because Shady Rest Haunt is even bigger and better this year! The interactive nature of the haunt makes it extremely unique and so much fun! It will be the highlight of your Halloween season! I went last year and this year. Last year was great and this year was even better! Amazing props and very entertaining (scary) actors. Very unique scenes and never a dull moment the entire time. It's fun for all ages. The Yeti cave scene was my favorite. So cool! Really nice to have such a well done haunt in the area. I'm bringing friends back next weekend to do it again. :)

Nice haunted house for kids and adults! Great storytelling and special effects. Easy parking and super clean port-a-johns!

The laser swamp was amazing! I didn’t know that FX like that was possible. 👍

Terrible experience this evening. We arrived just before 8pm and there was a small crowd of maybe 20 people ahead of us. We bought our tickets and stood in line, for well over an hour. There was one elderly person supposedly managing the line and taking people's tickets but she was oblivious to a group that arrived 45 minutes after we did and cut ahead of us to be with their friends. This was after we had been standing in line for over an hour after we bought our tickets.

Then at the 1 hour 10 minute mark, still standing in line, the ticket taker person then announced that the actors needed to take a break, so we would be standing in line even longer.

I went back to the ticket booth to complain about all of this nonsense, and the owner spoke with me and had no idea any of this was going on nor how long everyone had been standing in line or the problems in that line.

Exceptionally poorly managed. I asked for our money back and my family and I left. They are clearly understaffed, and the owner of this attraction doesn't leave the ticket booth area so isn't aware of any problems taking place.

What a giant disappointment. I got my money back but wasted over 2 hours of a Saturday evening driving here and then waiting in line for 75 minutes with people allowed to cut in front of us.

Highly strongly un-recommended. Go someplace that actually cares about their customers and knows how to run a business. Would give 0...

I volunteer as a scare actor for this haunt, but have also gone through as a customer. Chris and Gloria, the owners, are amazing people and amazing to work for. The haunt is built and designed by Chris himself and those he employs. Last summer this was my brother and the year prior was myself! I have been with the haunt for the last three years and all three have been amazing experiences. Each year, the haunt has become more complex and unique, making it different and fun each year for both the customers and actors. Gloria and Chris are so caring to those who act in their haunt. This year, I went with my husband as customers and it was so fun to see it from a different...

I am super-picky about haunted attractions. I worked on one for a while and have been to probably 100 different ones over the last 25 years. This one is only 15 minutes from my house, but I haven't had the chance to go before.

All of this is leading up to say that walking through Shady Rest on Saturday was one of my top 5 haunted attraction experiences. It had everything that I like in a haunt: imagination, creativity, homemade props and sets (rather than an over-reliance on commercially available pieces), a loose storyline, interaction, and some genuinely great scares!

Don't snooze...
