I love going to blood prison every year! Iāve gone for the past ten years and Iāve never been disappointed until this year. It didnāt have anything to do with the scare actors, or the scares (they were truly truly amazing). The scare actors were so awesome and considerate, and this year they really showed out with the scenes⦠but my group had a run in with a staff member that was absolutely terrible and ruined our experience. A young girl with black and green hair I believe was so extremely rude. My friend had flown in from California and had no idea that you werenāt allowed to take pictures, as this was her first time at a horror house. Before I could even warn her about it the worker yelled at her and got in her face! She told her that she had to see the photo and that she had to delete it while she watched. When my friend showed her that it was just a close up selfie of her own face and apologized, the worker once again said that she didnāt care. The worker was so incredibly rude and I very nicely tried to explain to her that she didnāt know about the no phones rule but she blatantly said that she didnāt care. We dropped it and ignored her while she kept running her mouth (to literally no one but herself because we all took a step back from her and we were quietly looking around the room like okayyy that was kinda crazy) when I dropped my engagement ring onto the floor (I was playing with it from stress Ik Ik I shouldnāt have done that). None of us could see because the room was so dark so another one of my friends flipped on her flashlight quickly so we could find it and the worker lost it. She started screaming at us and was like āI SAID NO PHONESā and we once again tried explaining ourselves to her, that we were searching for my ring when she got on her radio and said that we were getting kicked out! We were all blown away! I even tried apologizing to her, telling her itās just a misunderstanding, weāre not trying to be rude (because weāre genuinely not rude people!), but she wouldnāt listen to me. She kept arguing even after other people (not with us) stepped in. It got to the point where my group just stood there silently until she let us through. There were several witnesses to this that didnāt come to the event with us, and at the end even apologized to us that she ruined it. We tried talking to the front desk about what happened because we were so genuinely disappointed but they literally laughed and said thereās nothing that they could do about it. Our group had this planned out for weeks, I was so excited to show them the reformatory (and wardens widow, love u Queen lol) since I come for inkcarceration and the ghost tours every year, but the workers there this year were...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy favorite haunted house in Ohio. It is worth the drive to go. I suggest going early in the season, getting the 1st available time slot. The latter in the season, the more crowded it gets. You could possibly wait in line for a few hours. You have to get tickets through their online website. You pick a day, then a time slot (30-minute interval). There is plenty of parking, free of charge. There are a few vendors and a few food trucks. You wait in your time slot que before you get into line. You then go into a line to pass through ticket scanning and security. Once finished, you get into line to enter the haunt. They do have a vip pass that allows you to go to the front of the line. The haunt will take about 45-50 minutes to walk through. There are around 5 stair cases you must go up or down. No crawling, but a few spots you have to duck down. They do a good job to keep the flow going and not to crowd the people ahead of you. The number of live actors is amazing. Some scenes would have 3 live actors as well as animatronic. The scenes have such detail from the smallest (baby doll, medical equipment, ammo can, etc) to a large animatronic. The jump scares were well timed (if you didn't catch up to the group ahead of you, take you time, let the actors reset). They do not touch you (they do have a touch pass, that is extra, here the actors will touch you), but they do get close and in your space. The makeup of the live actors is pretty good. Each year seems to get better. They are constantly adding new scenes and elaborating previous ones. There aren't many dead spots where you aren't in a scene. You walk through solitary confinement, but there are live actors down there to make sure you aren't alone. This year outside, they had fire performers. From fire breathers, hula hoop, fire mace, etc. Also, this year, they took pictures, and you were given a card. At the end, you gave the card to a designated person, and they pulled your picture up of your group. You have the option of buying a picture or a digital copy. I think it was $15. There is a coffee bar with specialty drinks and a gift shop. They have blood prison shirts or Shawshank...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI want and visited blood prison this past weekend and absolutely loved it! Going through general admissions, I did the 45 min walkthrough, that did not involve jump-scares. (There are separate tickets for that experience.) Upon entering the property there was plenty of food, drink, and apparel vendors. There were plenty of bathrooms. Those in charge of the event on the outside were fantastic with making sure every guests knew where they needed to go. The event entertainment was a techno / dubstep music that was pumped throughout the entire building. The genre of music they chose was the perfect epitome to the entire night. There were also fire Bataan performers! Some of the cast and crew were dressed in costume and walked along with the crowd, as the crowd waited in line to get in. Photo ops were also welcomed. I don't want to ruin the surprise for you when you get in. But do expect to hunched over into small quarters as you walk through certain doorways. Expect to walk up and also walk down flights of stairs. There will be no sitting in the 45-minute walk through. Minimal parts of the event are heated, and the other half isn't. You will be confined to a large room of people on at least 2 different occasions throughout the walk, along with close quarter hallways. Dress accordingly! How do you describe the overall experience of general admission? It is a giant museum to all of those who love decorating and celebrating Halloween. If you love driving by and walking through Halloween setups during trick-or-treat, general admission is perfect for you! If you love walking through Halloween setups and getting the crap scared out of you, choose the jump-scare/ touch admission. I cannot begin to explain to you how much time, dedication, and detail went into the design setup, and production of this event. Again, we're comfortable shoes, expect to take stairs, expect to hunch through doorways, and dress for the weather! It was my first time this year going- but I'm definitely...
