Jackson County Iowa Fairgrounds — Local services in Maquoketa

Very very disappointed in the 2023 County Fair .... spaces that were used for vendors/ what not is being used to sell Tiny Homes ... online says its kids day on Thursday from 12pm to 5pm --- discounted at $25 for wrist bands.. 5pm to 10pm regular bands $30.. however when we went to buy them couldn't purchase until 6pm... and its only good for 6pm to 10pm ... The gap from from 5pm to 6pm tickets only could be purchased .... Antique Tractors are all jammed packed together and not allowed to walk around them like before ... Bands for Friday and Saturday are nice but a major step down from last year's line up.. Parking is a cluster due to new building going up.. No rabbits or Chickens for show .... Hogs / Pigs were roped of until further notice... Tiger show -- you could tell the Tigers were hot / paniting and over worked and not Interested in performing.. Alot rides could ride due to being over height for the kids... thats right over height!!!!! And the older kid rides child was scared cause he is only 7!!!!!!

If you wanted to sponsor the fair .. it was a minimum $1000 buy in .. and no appreciation steak dinner .. previous years $500 minimum along w the appreciation steak dinner... this year a stick in the eye... half the games no workers... or didn't have change ... The dragon (tilt a-whurl) was stuck w a little kid on it and couldn't get it stopped... very low maintained equipment that could have been dangerous....

I think next year my family will go to the Jones County or...

Was there on the 4th of July and you could tell just 7 years ago they couldn't find a show. Trackside does their best but I really fault the city/county. When calling to inquire about information regarding that night the gentleman was very helpful and gave me a hopeful feeling. Sadly I didn't make it to the races but the fireworks were not as bad...
