I was working nearby and didn’t have my lunch with me so I stopped here for a sandwich. I chose the French dip. I chose wisely. It was one of the best sandwiches I have had in a long time. Caramelized onions, horseradish, roast beef, cheese, and good bread. I enjoyed my sandwich.
So why only three stars? Because I can say with absolute certainty, that this was the most pathetic excuse for au jus ever. EVER! This is not hyperbole nor an exaggeration. What they gave me can’t even qualify as au jus. I knew something was wrong almost immediately when I took the lid off the container because it looked like ice tea. This is not an exaggeration. It was that light in color. And of course, because it had very little substance, it had very little flavor. To be honest, it didn’t even taste beefy, it literally tasted like brine. Just water and some caramel color and salt. I’m not even all that much salt. What makes it even more perplexing is that I would have been perfectly fine if they had said, “we are out of au jus.” I would’ve been happy with my sandwich. But this poor substitute that they served me just felt dishonest. It was as if somebody had forgot to make me the au jus and someone in the kitchen said they could whip up a batch in two minutes, and nobody would be the wiser.
Honestly, shame on you. Next time just say you’re out and retain...
Read moreI am from out of town and went to have a nice dinner with my parents and aunt and uncle. We had reservations at 5:30. We ordered food at 6:00 and did not receive food until 7:20. Food was cold and over cooked. When we called Julian the manager of the restaurant over to our table, he was the worst manager I have seen and made every excuse. I have been on restaurant business for years and never seen the poor response from a manager. He should have been running food to tables and doing whatever he could to help the servers. This manager does not show leadership or guidance to the staff to make this a successful restaurant. We never had wait staff check on us, offer water or ask if needed anything once we did get meal. We had to send overcooked food back. Claudette, you need to get this restaurant fixed for your residents. This is a poor representation of the Highlands. Your residents deserve a place to enjoy within the area they live, especially with the amount they pay for monthly dues. I truly hope the board members and the GM make this a priority and not dismiss this issue. You have residents that would make that a place to stop every Friday that will no longer go there due to the lack of management. Restaurants have lost a lot due Covid, are you willing to risk more loss due to...
Read moreMy husband and I held our wedding at The Highlands. Overall, it was the most amazing experience I could have asked for. Claudette (our event coordinator) and her team did an absolutely fantastic job of creating the vision I had in my head for my ceremony and reception. The food tasted wonderful, the views were gorgeous, and the people were so helpful and kind. There were a few things that I did not realize were happening, such as having a cash bar when my husband and I said we did not want one (although this was only communicated in initial meetings, not closer to the actual date) and not having the sparkling cider toast we requested (again something that was covered in initial meetings but not something we were charged for). Claudette and her team paid special attention to all of the little details I wanted as part of my wedding, like having a gluten-free option for guests of mine who had severe allergies, and making sure every table was set up exactly how I had asked. Overall my husband and I honestly had a wonderful experience with them and would recommend them for other events and to...
