Solid Surface Designs, Inc. — Local services in Marionville

Ordered a solid surface counter top through Home Depot and Solid Surface Designs was their subcontractor. The job involved 2 vanities with undermount sinks in a new construction. When they arrived to take measurements for the counter top I told the Tech that the design needed to match the other sinks in the upper level bathrooms. I was in a hurry so I signed his paperwork and went on my way. When the tops arrived to be installed, the sinks were 1" too close to the front of the counter leaving the sink not in the center. Kevin the account manager with SSD said they placed it in the "standard location". I asked 3 other counter top vendors and they said there is no such thing as a standard location. Then 2 or 3 weeks of no return phone calls from anyone (Home Depot or SSD). SSD finally said they asked the Tech and he said he remembered no such conversation about matching the upstairs counters and sinks(convenient huh?). Home Depot and SSD said I approved the drawing and refused to fix the problem. Bottom line, their customer service is not good and all Home Depot did was add another layer of management and hassle. Bottom line, SSD was too busy to deal with my small job. I felt like a number and not a customer from the first time I talked to them. I would recommend finding someone that doesn't have a giant contract with Home Depot where you can get service...

SSD is the certified installer for HD in our area (which for them is a many hour drive). They did a GREAT JOB from start to finish! They followed up to do the measurements within 3 days of my purchase, the measurements were done quickly and professionally and amicably. The guy even complimented my home (which means a lot when you think you have the decorating taste of a slug). They scheduled the install within two weeks and made follow up calls consistently. They gave me a 1 hour window of installer arrival time, and the driver was nice enough to call me and tell me he was...get this..going to be EARLY. Counter tops were installed in only a few hours and look fabulous. I'm sure part of it is the pattern, but you can hardly see the seam. I have to get within a foot of the counter to see it and I know where it is. (hint: its in one of the pictures) A+++ Great experience, great customer support, great people working for them. I almost always do my own work in my house, but I have no regrets from letting the pros do this one! ...
