Castell General Store — Local services in Mason

Going to Castell General store and eatery is just beyond anything I have done. This is not a place of grandeur, BUT it has nostalgia written all over it. NO place can you get a burger that tastes and looks this good. The burger bun is sour dough (I think) with fresh veggie toppings. bigger than any you will get anywhere,the beef patty has to be a close 1/2 lb. and thicker and full of flavor. And the people are very friendly. Castell store ( Castell,Texas) also has some other items that you might enjoy. It is in a very small town on the Llano River. The drive there is about 18 miles from Llano,Texas and an enjoyable country drive. Be sure to enjoy the Hill Country ( a good way to destress before you have your meal.) Now a burger is not the only thing they serve ( a full menu is on the wall.) They open at 10 am and serve food from 11 am to 3 pm during the week. Check out there website for all...

Castell is a favorite place for us to eat during deer season. Fridays for lunch they have reallllyyy good, BIG, Hamburgers. It's a half pound and they always remind me when I order a double....yes...I said a double meat cheeseburger with 1/2 pound patties. It didn't sound so bad until the other day when I said I ate the whole One pound Burger. Saturdays they serve BBQ by the pound. Careful with that it's good also and ninety dollars in meat goes away real quick when you feed four healthy guys. I hear Sundays they serve steak but I haven't tried it yet. I saw their road side add in Llano, TX and decided to go for a visit. I'm so happy we went! All the great reviews here are true! The burger and patty melt were amazing, the staff and patrons were all fantastic people, the beer was cold, and the place was more than worth the 20min drive from Llano. Most importantly, the staff and all the people around were friendly and made the visit so much fun! The only wish I would have is for them to have even more fun merchandise to shop for because I would have bought every trinket that fit me to support this...
