Camp Zephyr — Local services in Mathis

This review is only for the camp itself. The only 2 things that were good about the camp was that the rooms were clean, but the camp itself needs Major pest control and more love on the property itself. There were tons of cobwebs everywhere not to mention bugs, critters and scorpions. The outdoor areas that had wooden rockers or any type of seating had lots of spiders, webs and bugs on them. The food was awful, but the salad bar was nice. If it was not for the spiritual retreat that was an awesome experience, I would not come back to this camp or recommend it. Everyone one would say, you get what you pay for, but cleanliness, sanitation and safety from scorpions is a must. The camp restrooms were always dirty and most of them without soap to wash our hands. I saw one adult in the main office once in the 3 days we were there and nothing but very young adults serving the food in the cafeteria. I would think that these places would prepare get ready for such big Christian retreats like this. This is constructive criticism and I hope it helps in preparing for your future events scheduled at this...

Me rating it one star is me being nice. I hated it the bus ride is way to long it was supposed to take two hours it took THREE. we sat listing to someone talk for four hours a day one in the morning one before lunch one after lunch and one before bed. The cabins are super hot and uncomfortable to sleep in the mattresses were really hard and firm. You wake up super sweaty. You can only take a 5-10 minute shower with cold ass water. I was forced to go and hear what they had to say. I still do not agree with it. Coming there I tried to have an open mind and listen to what they had to say but after the second day I was tired of sitting in a chair four hours a day. I will admit the counselors or whatever you want to call them anyway they were really nice and willing to talk about our questions. You only have like two minutes to call...

I love zephyr!I habe been going for 2 years now! This year they had Tedashii, Rush of Fools, and Justin Flom perform. The block party was so much much. So many people got saved. My faith in God has grow stronger with God. They have so many activities like paintball. I have my very own battle scar. The worship is amazing. The Zephyr staff works so hard for you to have a clean camp and fun time. Rec is also very fun. So is free rec. They have a Snac Shac and gift shop.They have a waterfront, pool, and pond.
