My family was on vacation in Maui during the fires. Everyone was able to get flights out except my dad and I, but we were unable to get back to our resort on the west side because the highway went right through Lahaina. We were stuck on the other side of the island with only our golf clubs and the clothes we were wearing. The first night we stayed at a shelter, but the next day we drove out to Hana after going to the store to get fresh clothes and toiletries. By sheer luck, we found Tony and Caroline's campground. They provided us with some camping supplies and a spot to stay until we were able to fly home. The property is SO peaceful and beautiful. The sunrises are picture perfect, and even the sunsets despite being on the eastern side of the island. Tony would give us daily updates about the fires and road conditions, etc. I'll always remember their kindness and generosity and am grateful to have met them. What a gem in Hana. While Caroline's fruit/art stand wasn't open during the two days we camped out on her property, if you're passing through in Hana, definitely recommending booking a stay here and eating at Tony's (next to Caroline's Stand, and owned by the same family).

I don't hate fish, but I definitely don't go seeking it out. I was leaning towards the grass-fed beef, but the fish sandwich was recommended so I gave it a try. And OMG, it was SO good. I loved the presentation--the ube buns and fixings made it look like a rainbow, and I couldn't stop raving about the centerpiece mahi mahi. It was so flavorful, and would eat it everyday if I could. Stayed at Caroline’s place for 3 nights while in Hana In my camper van. What an incredible experience in paradise! This place was amazingly beautiful with wonderful people. Caroline was so kind, helpful and caring. Her honesty and integrity did not go unnoticed either. The campground is beautifully manicured and lush with an ocean view. Felt very safe and secure there.
