Keystone Woods WMA — Local services in May Township

Keystone Woods WMA is an absolute game changer here in Washington County. Not just for me and my own enjoyment of nature but for the native insect populations, mammals and aquatic creatures as well as our bees. I visit often to walk the expansive trails, listen to the birdsong, and take in the rich diversity of native trees and wildflowers. It’s peaceful, vast, and teeming with life.

As the co-founder of Honeycomb Cottage MN, located just south of Keystone, I’m especially grateful for the incredible foraging opportunities this land provides for our bees. Knowing they have access to such a massive, biodiverse ecosystem—full of native blooms, pollinator habitat, and clean air—means everything to us. It directly impacts the health of our hives and the vibrational therapy we offer our guests.

This land is a gift—not just to those of us who walk it, but to the wildlife and pollinators who thrive because it’s been protected. Keystone Woods is an excellent spot to go hiking, dog walking, or bird watching. The rolling hills and prarie landscape are scenic and beautiful. There are numerous small ponds throughout the area that bring in a nice variety of different bird species. There has never been anyone else there when I have gone, which is always nice....
