Honestly I have a bad experience. 3 times siding had to be fixed still missing a shingles since moved in. They put clay/ concrete for dirt to put sod over , should have been topsoil which every other home got but the row of homes (5) on our street. The ground is SO HARD can put sprinkler in the ground. Has to be watered nonstop otherwise becomes extremely hard and it’s killing the grass. I had to buy topsoil and seed to try and fix it because the clay they put down and compacted down like cement but I found tree branches , roots , huge rock in what they trying to call dirt. Water bill was over 500 for one month! We can let the grass die otherwise we will get fined! The flooring having issue with it buckling up this would be second time they use cheap carpet which would be ok if the padding wasn’t cheaper you can literally feel they plywood underneath and there are gaps in it that’s how much I can feel it. I get things are a little more costly but for $400,000 my townhouse was built better at $160,000! Better cabinets shower etc. their showers are half the size of a normal shower which is sad as there is so much wasted space in the primary bathroom and you have to go in between the vanity and shower door just to turn it on! Shower door slides open thus water leaking on floor! Supposedly they fixed it but still does it. The siding they replace has bubbles and makes the front look like we don’t take care of it and we are the only house in this community that it’s like that!!! Potential buyers do yourself a favor and hire home inspector . Sounds crazy but I wished to god I did . The wiring in the house is backwards meaning trying to put in a ceiling fan is a nightmare they put black wire in the slot for the red traveling wire. Serious who can’t read? And the switches they put in with dimmers you have to switch them out in order for the ceiling fan and light to work by the switch otherwise your stuck using the remote errrrr but they didn’t mention that! The are building so fast the quality is gone it’s extremely sad considering how much you spend and you get what you get cabinets are cheap nothing in there has any thing that doesn’t look cheap they didn’t even put toilet paper holders for crying out loud!!! The cost $5 !!! Apparently a lot people were complaining they started changing this like better trim and doors just little touches like that makes a difference but nope . They put up a house in 3 months think about what was missed! More disappointing is wonder lake itself they charge you the same amount for water and sewer but half of the water is for watering lawn not going in the sewer!!!! And their attitude is oh well!!! My advice don’t move to wonder lake their community services garbage and water are outrageously priced!!!! Apparently they feel if you can afford to buy the house they can charge more for their services!!! But locals don’t pay that amount so discrimination at its worse! Whoever heard of an HOA for single family homes??? They tell you how tall your fence can be??? What color fence and what materials which is crazy because it’s your house not townhouse or...
Read moreI purchased my townhome two years ago and I truly love everything about my home. I searched for a new house for awhile, and I feel blessed to have found stonewater. You can immediately tell a lot of thought went into the design of this community, it is one of a kind and believe me I have seen plenty of other new builder communities. The trees are absolutely gorgeous and we are surrounded by so many different types I love taking it all in. There is a beautiful walking trail with cute little bridges, large ponds and again gorgeous trees. The pool is spectacular and it adds a lot of appeal which is attached to the clubhouse. They are still in the first phase of building the community and I love the thought of how there are plans to build more amenities which makes Stonewater a beautiful community to raise children and have your parents nearby. They have such a variety of different types of homes you can purchase - single family homes (one story or two); and a single story townhome or a multiple level townhome. I had to get away from Chicago and feel safe, and now I can actually walk in my community without fear, no matter the time. The added bonus, It feels like I'm living in the country but the City is just far enough away if I get the urge to visit. Thanks to my sales person, Sherry Wiss for helping me, because of your knowledge and going that extra mile for me to make sure I bought the right home, you made buying my home actually exciting, enjoyable and extremely effortless and I can't...
Read moreVery rushed process. They build so many homes so fast that they make alot of small stupid errors that if they actually cared about their work they wouldn't make these kinds of mistakes. There's a whole Facebook page dedicated to the people living in these homes and just complaining about everything. The HOA is the worst and absolutely useless. No reason to have it and especially pay for it when it does no benefit.
Also they charge everyone for 7,000 gallons of water use which is crazy. Whether you live by yourself or with 18 people. That's alot to charge for every single house that doesn't even come close to that much usage.
Lots of empty promises just to get you to move in, (like having a clubhouse and athletic center and a school for all the kids, just downright lies). Barebones houses and townhomes that you have to pay alot of money to put just the basics and essentials in like toilet paper holders.
IF YOU DO buy a house or townhouse from this company, MAKE SURE you hire your own inspector to go through it and get things looked at the right way, because the workers they have working on these houses just rush to get stuff done and don't double check their work.
Bottom line: They don't build houses like they are going to live in them. Just to get it done and over with...
