I had 4 speakers and an amp installed in early January 2019. I told them I wanted the best speakers they had (money not being a big issue) and an amp big enough to power them. I saw a bunch of Memphis Audio speaker boxes all around their store, and I had those speakers in my last car and wasn't impressed at all so I specifically told them I did not want those Memphis Audio speakers no matter what. They said those speakers are good when they're powered by an amp, but I reaffirmed that I would spend the extra money (whatever the cost would be) to get the best speakers available. They told me that wouldn't be a problem and that their best speakers would run me $180 a pair. I said that was fine. They installed a $180 2-channel amp, and I had my own deck that they installed as well. I think the wires cost around 40 or 50 bucks, so the equipment ran me around $600 total. They must have charged me $150 for labor (no big deal) as the total cost came out to around $750.
When I picked the car up from them, the audio sounded better than the factory system so I didn't complain after testing it out for a minute or two before driving off. BUT the next day when I opened my trunk, I noticed there were 2 Memphis Audio speaker boxes in there. They installed Memphis Audio without even telling me, even though I was extremely specific and persistent about not wanting those speakers. But I wasn't going to complain because I had to leave town the next day (I was just visiting, Erie is my hometown but I moved away). However, I decided to google the speakers using the information on the box and found they cost $40 a pair, have "treated" paper cones, and specs barely better than the factory speakers. They're literally the cheapest speakers that Memphis Audio makes. So that was a ripoff of at least $280 right there. The ACTUAL total value of the equipment they installed was only $300 (40+40+180+40 = 300, and don't forget I paid $750 total). When I had time to listen to a variety of songs at higher volume for a longer time period, I noticed sub par sound quality (distortion, rattling sounds, and just overall unimpressive audio quality).
So I decided to call Kyle and express my dissatisfaction. At first, he was insisting that the speakers were great and that even I was happy with them the previous day. I explained to him all the details I wrote in this review. He insisted again that they are good speakers. I asked him where the other $450 went, and he said that the prices they charged me for the speakers and amp have installation costs added on the top. But I said yeah I did not mind paying the extra 150. I reiterated that I paid $180 for speakers worth $40 a pair, and that they were almost literally the cheapest speakers that money could buy. He asked me what I wanted from him. I told him I was in no position to make demands since I was leaving town the next day, but that I wanted him to make it right somehow. He said he'd think on what to do and assured me that he'd take care of me. He gave me his personal number and said he'd get back to me when he thought of a solution. He ended up agreeing to send me better speakers in the mail, and we agreed on which ones together. They were Focal brand $150 a pair speakers. He said send the Memphis Audio speakers back when I get the new ones. But I havent had time to install them yet because my job keeps me so busy. However, the front drivers side speaker has been v annoyingly rattling for around 3 months now and this past week it started cutting in and out and I have to bang on it periodically to get it to work again. I work at a school so now that it is summer break I can get the new speakers installed (I have to pay again to get them installed, like 150 bucks or something at Best Buy because idk what I'm doing). So in total this cost me $900 for 4 decent speakers, a small amp, wires, and installation. With all that being said, I am very appreciative that Kyle sent me the replacement speakers. And he seemed like a cool guy, easygoing and stuff. Just wouldnt go...
Read moreI’d like to make a shout out to Kyle and his crew for the amazing job in turning a car with zero and I mean zero power due to bad electrical wiring to a fully functional car “like new” as people say! I had no idea they did anything other then just sound and remote starters. Thanks to the tow guy Rick for recommending Real Audio as an option I would have never known they could fix my issue 3 other shops couldn’t fix. I was about to lose all hope but come to my surprise I get a text from Kyle that the car is running and my jaw dropped to the ground. He’s a very very reasonable and fair person when I comes to pricing his work. All I have to say is thank God I didn’t have to take it to Audi. Real audio is an extremely clean and professional establishment I recommend his business to anyone with any electrical needs not just sound and remote starts but I mean any kind of electrical issue because they are top notch engineers in their profession and look at situations outside the box that other mechanics don’t take the time to do and just brush off the work to some other mechanic that’s willing to take on the headache or brush off because they have no clue how to fix it. Real audio actually gets excited on taking on the challenge and they deliver every time I can promise you that . Only bad thing I can say about this review is that it doesn’t have more then 5 stars because they deserve 10 for sure. Thank you Kyle and your crew for all your work and efforts and success on a challenge no one else could tackle. I’m looking forward in continuing to use you guys on all my vehicles and I will send as many people your way as I...
Read moreI have no idea about their audio products, but do not go here for a car repair. Someone at Auto Zone (another business I will never again patronize) told me to go there to get an emergency replacement for my alternator. (A real mechanic later confirmed there was nothing wrong with my alternator, that my battery was the issue. So I almost spent $400 on a repair I didn't need.) They told me they could fix my car in two hours after I told them I had to pick up my kids from school in that amount of time. I showed up early to the appointment and reminded them of my time constraint. They said, oh, that will be tight. I should have left right then because on the phone they said it would be no problem at all, that it wouldn't take close to two hours. Well, half an hour before I had to leave, they informed me they took out of my old alternator and didn't have time to put the new one in. I made it just in the nick of time to get my kids. On top of all this, they were unprofessional. At one point they made a joke about how stressed I was about my car not working. Don't know about you, but not being able to make a living or take your kids to school or leave the house in an emergency because your car won't start is kind of a big deal. Don't go here for...
