Horrible and weird experience today at Timbuk. When I arrived into the building, no one was there. I stood and waited for a minute, when I heard some rustling nearby, and said hello, and a dark haired (30 ish) woman said yes? Like I was bothering her. So I told her I was there to get a tree, and she instructed me to look at the tree's out front for tree types and prices. I told her I had been coming to Timbuk for several years, and was interested in a "Charlie Brown" tree. She sighed and said, she didn't think they had any of those left. I told her I had called Timbuk on Monday (12/5) and spoke to an older women, who had confirmed they still had "Charlie Brown" tree's available, and confirmed they priced between 6-19 bux. I had also seen this on the company website.
Dark haired girl in store called bus driver and said I wanted a "Charlie Brown" tree. I went out to the bus, and the guy was very rude and abrupt, and extremely unfriendly. And when I asked him about the advertised "Charlie Brown" trees, he skirted around the question, even asking me what my idea of a "Charlie Brown" tree was? He was rude about it. I keep asking him where the "Charlie Brown" trees were, and he said "we were really busy over the weekend" and he didn't know where they would be???? This evasive conversation went on until he dropped me off at second Canaan fir field, and he seemed to be frustrated and even got snippy with me about it. He said "I don't know what your idea of a "Charlie Brown" tree was? I said, that Timbuk had always offered "Charlie Brown" trees marked with an orange tag. He responded that all the trees in the fields had prices on them. I even asked how much a tree was that did not have a tag on it. He thought maybe they were 10 bux a foot, but depended on shape too. Very confusing, He said they had cut trees for 15 bux, but they were only four ft. I even asked at one point if I was at Timbuk, since he was so evasive about these advertised "Charlie Btown" trees. It was frustrating? And insulting, and rude, and confusing.
And then add insult, he dropped me off at one field, and never came back to pick me up. I walked the long way back, and left.
I was do disappointed today in my experience with Timbuk. It's like it's under different management. 10 years of great experiences and great memories of cutting my Christmas tree at Timbuk, was ruined today by a very bad...
Read moreAs a husband and father, I love this place. A school bus ride to the field and back.. the service and expirence is exceptional. The only thing they could do any better is offer a liability waver in exchange for putting the tree on the car.
As a tree care business owner and Ohio Nursery & Landscape Association (ONLA member), I am surprised they dont (or seem to have not), sprayed their field with insecticide. I am not talking DDT here.. just common consumer grade homeowner friendly etc etc (like ortho home defense max).. the trade name is bifentherine (
Read moreI was really excited for the Tulip Festival but I ended up being really disappointed with the flowers and the experience. I came on the 2nd of the 3 weekends the festival was supposed to take place. I was charged $10 at the door only to see that 95% of the remaining tulips were wind/frost burnt, not good for picking or pictures. There were some pretty daffodils still in tact that I did enjoy. As far as the general experience, the line to get into the tulip fields was long and very slow which wasn't fun in the cloudy 50 degree temperatures. There looked like some nice children's activities (a playground and bouncing pad) but nothing else for adults really to enjoy except one food truck. They claimed to be selling cookies and donuts but they were sold out by the time we arrived. I wouldn't classify the experience as a "festival" more like a tulip farm with a playground. I hope next year the weather is better for the tulips. I wish they would not have charged us full price for a really sad looking field. I hope in the future they can add more things for adults to enjoy like outdoor music, line dancing, more food trucks, and historical/dutch cultural experiences. That would make it feel much more like a festival and worth the price to get...
