I had the pleasure of being a Full CSA member with Source Farm for the entire 2024 year, and my experience was nothing short of exceptional. From start to finish, everything about their CSA program was top-notch. The quality of their produce is absolutely outstanding – everything I received throughout the season was exceptional, truly top-notch. It's clear that their produce is organic, grown with immense care, and truly made with love. This commitment to quality and ethical farming practices was evident in every single item. In terms of value, the quantity, variety, and quality of the produce consistently delivered throughout the year were all superb. I always felt I received excellent value for my investment. The logistical side of the CSA was incredibly smooth and stress-free. Signing up was easy, communications were clear, and the weekly pickups were a breeze. The food was always available precisely at the designated times, and I never experienced any delays, which speaks volumes about their organization and reliability. The absolute best part of my experience was undoubtedly the unparalleled quality of the food, coupled with the peace of mind knowing it was organically grown with such dedication and care. While it's a minor point, if there was one small area for enhancement, it would be to introduce just a smidge more variety in the shares. However, this is a very small note, as everything else was perfect and consistently delicious. I wholeheartedly recommend Source Farm to anyone seeking incredibly high-quality, organic produce from a farm that truly cares. Being a CSA member was a rewarding and delicious experience, and I eagerly look forward to more of their...
Read moreI've been a long-time customer (lost track of how many years), but I love how Kookoolan is continuously evolving. Every time I visit the farm store I find something new, and tasty. Like wasabi, and hazelnuts.
The mainstay for me is the beef share, and although their beef has always been wonderful, the packaging has improved dramatically over the last few years. It now takes less space than the classic layers-of-butcher paper, and I've discovered it's very convenient for a worknight dinner. :-)
It takes a matter of seconds to slice the metal ends off the hamburger rolls, and defrost them to a manageable state on a plate in the microwave, before I put them into whatever meal I'm making. I think burgers and meatloaf come out fluffier if shaped gently while still partially frozen, it keeps them from getting so compacted.
The steak packages I defrost just enough to pull them apart, much easier with plastic than paper, and then I let them take a tour of the smoker before (briefly) grilling. The flavorful result is med-rare in the middle, seared on the outside, and tender enough to cut...
Read moreI have been a Kookoolan customer for over a decade and have always been impressed by their biodynamic and regenerative approach to farming. They care for their land and animals the way nature intended, and it shows in the quality of their products.
I regularly order their beef and chicken, have enjoyed their excellent meads and organic pinot noir wine, and the last couple years also the sustainably sourced seafood they sell at a very fair price. In all these years, I never had even one disappointing experience.
Their customer service is outstanding. Chrissie has gone above and beyond for me in response to some of my questions, reaching out to her own network of knowledgeable food experts when she did not have the answer herself. Even now during these challenging Covid times, when they have been overwhelmed with customer requests and orders, their communication has been prompt.
When I needed to cancel a beef share a few years ago, my deposit was refunded immediately and without any questions. I could not wish for a better farmer to partner with in my...
