Overall decent course for all skill levels. However, played there recently while it was cart path only after having heavy rain throughout the prior week. We had a foursome, and the ranger (old geezer who I had never seen before in my prior outings here) was trying to tell us to play ready golf on the 9th hole while we were still on pace for a two hour front 9 (for cart path only we were booking it). We even offered to let the twosome behind us through on the par 3 8th hole, yet they declined because they said they were in no rush. He then drives to one of our players balls on the 9th hole which happened to be in the far right rough (playable ball) and he tosses the players ball farther into the fairway. Then he proceeds to keep chirping at us about our pace of play as he DRIVES his cart right through the middle of the fairway. At this point, I made it known he had no idea what he was talking about and told him to go on his way. He drives straight to the clubhouse to go tell his side of the story, then proceeds to tell us to hurry up after we had been in the clubhouse for drinks and snacks. I thought to myself, “Do you not want us to spend more money at your establishment?” We could have easily went and played elsewhere, but we wanted to support a local course. Needless to say we won’t be back out to Quaker Creek again until 2024, as there are plenty of other golf courses in Alamance County who will treat their members/visitors who pay their hard earned money for a round of golf...
Read morePlayed the course mid-week, starting around 10 AM.
Pros: fairways are wide and the greens are small but not particularly well protected, so the course isn't overly penal on errant tee or approach shots; fairways are generally green, though they are mowed quite closely, so get ready for some hot iron shots from tight lies; there are a few shots over water, but the carries are not bad from the white tees, so these are more to give you anxiety than actually change your club choice; greens roll true and are generally in good shape; the price is under $30 to ride; the clubhouse staff and maintenance folks we met were all nice and engaging; the course is visually appealing, with great mature tree lines
Cons: on several holes, neither the hole nor the landing zone for the tee shot are visible, so you need to ride up to see if the group in front has cleared; #10 plays to 400 yards, but has a stream crossing the fairway around 240-250 yards, which means that you either have to fly the ball 255 (a big ask for most golfers) or lay it up and have a long iron or hybrid in; several greens slope down away from the approach shot, and will run 10-15 yards; #16 and #17 are the same hole flipped, both just under 400 yards, both straight, wide holes
Overall, this track is fun to play, interesting through most of the round, a fair test, and...
Read moreI love playing this course. The staff are great and the course is in great shape considering the price. The greens can run fast, which I like. The only issue I have is the course can sometimes get very crowded. The course could be marshaled a little more as some people dont follow the rules with their carts and throwing away garbage. Especially when it comes to pitch marks on greens, seems no one fixes theirs. I like to go around fixing divots in-between holes when it is busy. The fairways are pretty wide and forgiving for newer players but also offer a challenge to more experienced players like myself. My favorite hole is the 11th par three. Staff are awesome and friendly. The pro shop isn’t much to write home about but they do sell hotdogs and snacks. I bring my son to ride along with me and they are always welcoming to us. I will definitely look into buying a...
