If it wasn't for this place and the awesome people who run it, I would have never achieved a year sober, which i recently just did on the "Mitch of July"!

To everyone at Pinelands Recovery Center of Medford: I wanted to write a review regarding my inpatient experience at Pinelands. Going in and finally facing reality, truly understanding the meaning behind “my life has become unmanageable” was probably there most embarrassing, scariest, and lowest point in my life. Having to look your spouse, family and friends in the face and admitting “I truly have a problem”, is something I wish upon no one. However, walking through those doors , easily the scariest moment in my life, I am immediately greeted with “Welcome to the Ritz!”. I truly wanted to tell everyone where to go in explicit form, but held back as this was solely my fault and had to deal with my disease directly with the help of the entire staff. Kyle was the first person to greet me and in some weird way, mixed emotions and all, I felt a sense of relief? How? I had no clue. I was given my Pineland’s fashionable, temporary scrubs and hid in my room until my clothes were returned, simply not wanting to be the stand-out “new-kid”... everyone knew so don’t take a page out of my book. After a day or two, making friends and being welcome with open arms, I started to trust the process. Missing home, my Wife, and Family of course, but knowing this is something I had to do for myself. Soon after getting acclimated, I met Chris “Chrispy”. You can’t miss him, he looks like an Ad out of a Colgate commercial. Always smiling and somehow making you feel, at what feels like your rock bottom, refreshingly welcome and gives you the sense of, “they’ve got me”, “everything will be okay”. You can go on and on about the staff. Playing basketball with Eric, Chrispy, and Kyle after the “work day’ is over makes everything feel like your life is turning. This is what being Sober feels like? Why did I wait so long? Are these my counselors who’ve now become my friends? Little Eric, and my my girl, Ash have to get their shoutouts too! Amber, keep holding down the fort and keeping everyone in line, as you did so well. As far as the recovery process and the real reason for my review, and I don’t mean this as a cliche or body of a Hallmark card, but Pinelands and their staff, whole-heartedly changed my life. Waking up happy everyday, full of energy, continuing to do the process and working the steps really has made my life something to live for. Even when you think you have it all (as I did), the disease does not discriminate. IT doesn’t care if you’re a millionaire or homeless, married or single, 10 or 100.. if you’re dealt that hand, you have to fold. Folding that hand is accepting. Admitting and accepting the honest truth is key. The structure of the program makes it very easy to navigate through your day. It becomes clock-work, yet still having the time to journal, talk to piers, draw, or simply walk around outside and take a breath. These guys made that nightmare become a dream and while 30 days seems like a year, I cannot express how much you can and will change if you WANT to change and take what everyone at Pinelands says - to heart. My assigned therapist was Sam. She helped more then she even knows. She listened to me rant for longer then she needed to and always responded to my issues in somehow the perfect way, even though it may have not been what I wanted to hear. I always asked Sam to be blunt, I don’t want to beat around the bush, and she respected that, while still being professional and caring. Thank You, Sam, Chrispy, Kyle, Eric^2, Ash, and everyone at Pinelands for changing my life. I really didn’t think it was possible, but you all made it happen. To anyone considering Pinelands, stop searching around, if you’re accepted to the Ritz, you’ll come out feeling like you could actually afford a room there. Thanks...

I suffered with addiction for 10+ years. Everyone told me I needed help, but 1.) I was in denial and 2.) I didn’t want help. I tried recovering on my own to no avail. I suffered the loss of 2 brothers and a divorce, which eventually led to a spiral in my addiction. I ended up on the doorsteps of Pinelands. Nervous and scared, I was right away welcomed by their warm supportive staff. They make you feel like a part of the family from day one. The therapy at Pinelands is second to none (I was at another facility prior)! From the group meetings, to smaller group meetings, to one on one meetings with my therapist. When recovering from addiction you go through a million and one different emotions, stresses, thoughts. I found that not one moment could go by when a staff member would pick up on how I (or a fellow client) was feeling and would drop everything at a dime to sit and talk. They sincerely care and understand what you’re going through. I spent 30 days at Pinelands. Everything was handled for me (eg-insurance, meals, aftercare planning, etc) so that my main focus could be on what I was there for, and so desperately needed...recovery and a chance at creating a new sober life. I have been sober now for 108 days (keeping in mind not one day went by for over 5 years that I could not pick up a drink). I’m already starting to see the new happier life that my family at Pinelands promised me I would see in my upcoming sobriety. I’ve regained the trust of my friends and family. I’ve gotten my job back (Without having to ask for it. They saw how much I’ve changed and offered me another opportunity!). Best, and most important, of all...I wake up every day clean and sober; healthy and happy. I was recently asked last minute to speak at Pinelands by a friend of mine who had an emergency and could not attend. I took that opportunity without hesitation. After all, you can’t say no when you’re asked to help by the people that played such an enormous role in...

April 2 2025 my life totally changed. As a result of prayer to my Lord Jesus Christ, I was directed to PRC. The staff welcomed me with love, acceptance, hope. I found a safe place to share the hurts, pains and trauma life hit me with that lead to my decisions to use drugs and alcohol to cope with the pain. During my 28 day stay I was fully equipped with proven tools of sobriety that have help me stay and maintain sobriety 59 days later. The Professional, knowledgeable, living testimonies and sober examples of Pinelands staff produced in me an image of seeing myself living happy, joyous and free a sober life that is beneficial to myself, my family and everyone around in every place I go. God used Pinelands Recovery Center to help me realize my value and worth as a human being. Today I love myself and others enough to be good to myself and others even on so called "Bad Day" I learned to practice gratitude, grounding techs which help remain present in the moment and not decisions based of emotions or negative thoughts. If you or a love one is battling addiction to alcohol or drugs. I highly recommend Pinelands Recovery Center, they helped me get to the root and heart of the matter of why I was drinking and drugging. I've gain the tools to dig up the root and deal with the issues of my heart. I was given a rock solid start point for this life long, beautiful journey of sobriety for myself yet not by myself. PRC community of loving, caring, kind, generous, professional, knowledgeable staff; continues to reachout and support me everyday!! There is hope, you don't have to live the rest of your life in pain, misery, isolation, discomfort, discouragement, doubt and turned out on drugs or alcohol. Let Pinelands Recovery Center help you begin a beautiful new life of recovery so can experience joy and happiness of a brand new sober life. Thank you God for Pinelands Recovery Center 🙏🏿
