I was looking for a place to take my husband for our 19th Wedding Anniversary on 2/14/2020 and found this place on travelok.com. I booked it based on the pictures and that it's located in the mountains. I had not read the reviews on here until after I booked. I was kind of scared at first to go because of some of the bad reviews. My husband is a 100% disabled veteran and I have cancer. We were given a Military Discount as well as our tax-exempt with no issues about doing it.||||However, when we arrived, it was more than we expected. Kay was welcoming and pleasant. We stayed in Eagels Nest Cabin. Kay had rose petals on the bed for us and the hot tub (located in the room) already warmed up for us. We paid the $30 for firewood and fire starter, which was really nice to have a real wood-burning fireplace. The cabin overlooked the creek. ||||Great things about this place: ||-Super comfortable bed||-Hot tub inside||-Furnished with stainless steel appliances, dishes, pots and pans, coffee maker and more.||-There is firewood on the front porch ready to be used.||-The cabins are situated at a really good distance for secluded privacy. ||-Taking a walk down by the pond and there is a creek walk path as well. We didn't get a chance to walk it, but we will next time for sure. ||||What I love about this is that this is a couple only location nestled up in the mountains and it's quiet so one can relax and forget their worries. We have not slept so sound like we did there in a long time. Everything was very clean and well taken care of. ||||Drawbacks:||-When you cook, open both doors and a couple windows because the fire alarm will go off. Little smoke sets it off||-This has nothing to do with the owners or staff but if you wanted to bring your pooch, they have 3 cabins just for that. However, since this is in the country, folks around let their dogs run amuck. So if your dogs are not the friendliest toward other dogs, you may want to keep your pooch on a leash and keep a watch out. The other dogs are super friendly though. ||-The owner is kind of a rude person, but she is pretty old I'm told. So bare with her if you call. ||----||||Nearby restaurants: yeah, NONE! lol. You can hit up the little convenient store/gas station down the road call CJ's or head to Arkansas to Simple Simon's Pizza place. They are about 25min drive and have awesome pizza and calzones. ||||There is a homeless kitty that I would love to of taken home to find a home for but was unable to without a crate. We fed her cat food we bought from CJ's down the street. ||||Overall, we had a super great time, very romantic and relaxing and we hope to return next year for our 20th anniversary. We HIGHLY recommend...
Read moreI recently stayed here for 3 nights and by far a big mistake . We left early due to not having hot water at night we didn't bring it to there attention until the second night thinking it would kick in. We stayed in Cliffside. What disturbs me the most was that when we went to the office and let them know they did not send anybody out check on it the second night we called the after hours number and left a voicemail nobody ever returned our calls and on the second night a lady at the front office blonde hair lady came to the room and we explained it to her that at night time nothing's getting hot the water is not getting hot and that's why we called the after hours at night time so they could come see for themselves and she did not even apologize she did not try to get it fixed she just said she didn't know and we told her that we were leaving early due to the fact that we don't have hot water we could enjoy the jacuzzi and the inside the hot tub on the outside and it did not have any hot water as well so I don't recommend this place just for the customer service and the lack of them trying to figure out the problem and we didn't even get a refund we didn't get a extra $50 or something for the inconvenience that they cause on our anniversary so I'm writing reviews everywhere on this company I say stay away or go at your own risk the two stars that I am given is because of the look it looks beautiful but the pipes the hot water heater it's not worth it also warning when you use the jacuzzi in the inside of the room it's going to be spitting out black dirt so be careful with that too cuz not sure why does it again nobody at the office feel that they needed to explain anything apologize about anything I try...
Read moreThe area and the cabin was beautiful! I was, unfortunately, I was disappointed with the hospitality. We arrived about 830 p.m., but because it was raining, it was already very dark. Roads are very narrow and poorly maintained. The only light came from sparse cabin windows, and it was hard to tell what was road and what was just mud. Most of the dangerous areas were blocked off, but we found one that wasn't. Got my husband's truck stuck deep in the mud and had to hike a quarter mile in the rain by flashlight just to find our cabin. We couldn't reach Travis because there is 0 signal. We didn't have the wifi password, which is available only at the lodge, because my husband forgot his phone with the welcome email on it. Our neighbors two cabins down were kind enough to give us a ride back to the truck, get our bags and return to the cabin. The first time we saw or heard from any staff was 8:45 the next morning when Travis brought breakfast. By this time, another neighbor had already assisted us with pulling the truck out of the mud. I appreciate being remote, but "luxury" means having people available when guests need help. Aside from these problems, we had a nice morning fishing, although we didnt catch anything. We had grand evening in the outdoor hot tub (the indoor jacuzzi was a no-go because we ran out of hot water filling it). The steak dinner was very good. Other, relatively minor, issues: The wooden bed frame was broken, the water heater seemed to be filled with sediment, and there was a lovely half-sunk paddleboat complete with empty beer cans outside our cabin. 😔 All in all, we will definitely visit this region again, but wil probably seek other...
