I’m surprised I have to come here to leave this review. I had a hacker get into my laptop via remote access from a “zoom” link I clicked on. I ran malware searches and discovered there was no malware, so they were clearly using a remote access. I did my research and was told to bring it here. They were so friendly and reassured me they would take care of it. However, when I picked it up it was a bit of a red flag when they said, “no malware was detected and everything looked great.” Red flag because I knew there was no malware and told them I ran a couple scans to figure that out and secondly because they didn’t provide a solution. So I fly to my work trip out of state, and open my laptop… and guess what. I see the hackers (once I step away for a few minutes) back in my laptop remotely, trying to buy things online at Walmart, in a different language. Thankfully, I was working with a software tech company for the week so they actually were able to help me and solve the problem, removing access to all the remote software that was on my laptop… and eventually just wiping my laptop clean. I reached out to Jacob from 208geek to let him know and to please issue a refund for the problem not being fixed. And he responded several times with how he would not refund me because he spent time on my laptop running scans… and that there were no issues found!?!? Like why in the world would I pay someone to tell me there weren’t any issues… when I saw the hackers remotely using my computer?! I highly disagree with that business practice. A refund is definitely warranted… as he sent me home with the same problem, but still took my money because of the time. I will not be using this company again. If he had been honest and told me, he wasn’t able to find the problem, then we would be having a different story. But to tell me it all looks good and I was good to go, and then take my money? That does not sit right with me.
I did not click on another zoom link. I quite literally opened my laptop… and the hackers were still there. So to run diagnostics, but not find any issue. And still say it’s all good, and take my money. That’s the problem.
I was quoted $135 to fix the issue. Not tell me there was no issue. I literally saw with my eyes, my computer being remotely accessed. And that was not fixed.
why would I bring my laptop back in when you said it was good to go and were confident in your remediation. Plus I was out of state so I couldn’t. I’m thankful I had intelligent and kind software engineers at my week work trip to actually solve the issue and protect my accounts that the hackers were trying to get into.
I’m thinking this problem was above their heads. As all the responses I get from him are in defense, the 5 star reviews I see are simple issues. This was more difficult, and he said it was good and that I was good to go. He was wrong, and...
Read moreI had just arrived in town to work for a week. My laptop failed and wouldn't boot. I quickly found 208 Geek doing a search for computer repair. I didn't call ahead and just dropped in and met Brittany. She was super knowledgeable and professional . I had politely pleaded my urgency as its my connection to work. Brittany was super cool and straightforward and offered to their best to work it in asap. I don't think it was much more than an hour or so I received a call from Brittany letting me know the Tech Ben was able to squeeze it in and had identified positively what my issue was. It was an unfortunate failure that was not cost effective to repair. I had asked if it would be possible to extract any of my data off of the now deceased unit, they kindly obliged to try . I dropped off an external drive and met the Technician Ben , being very busy he humbly took the time to explain and provide detailed diagnostic details that led him to the failure . I work with Automotive Technology devices and was immediately impressed with the obvious experience and Knowledge Ben had. Brittany went out of her way to help with a quick resolution , she offered to have a replacement for me by the next day for a very comparable price to the local Box. I unfortunately couldn't wait when an immediate option was available. I left my external drive behind and went and purchased my replacement. Brittany called a short time later and advised Ben was successful extracting my saved data. I picked it up and settled up, with having prior experience with computer issues with other repair facilities , I fully expected to pay a nominal fee for very, very apparent top Tech and the quick service. It was more than reasonable for the diagnosis and Including all the extra effort from Both Jacob and Brittany. There is a reason they are at the top of the Search and have the highest...
Read moreI have a 2009 Sharp MX-4101N commercial copier. Unfortunately however, it does not work and play well with the Windows !0 or the server with Windows Server 2016 that I have. Consequently, I could NOT connect to my server because the wall RJ-45 was messed up. I was unable to access my server with my old printer. I reached a boiling point one morning and 208GEEK had been referred to me by Reggie Japhet as the "go to guys," so I called them. I called and the office manager, Brittini was very alert and responsive to my worries and said she'd send "the guys" out the next day! I had my doubts. But sure enough, the "guys" (Ben and ? came out the NEXT DAY and completely rebuilt the wall RJ-45 for me, including tracing all wires back to the multiple panels of wires in the server room, knew EXACTLY what they were doing and had my printing within an hour!! NOW the best part. I printed while they were there and then after they left I tried printing from the server and something went wrong! My printer indicated it had printed but then ghosted! Nothing printed. I called and apologized to Brittini and asked her to please send the boys over again. It was late morning the next day when I called and within 2 hours, Ben and ? (so sorry) came and had the problem fixed within 20 minutes! I'm so glad they didn't charge by the hour! They are now my go-to guys! Wouldn't call...
