We had a great time watching Dave Chapelle and his friends on June 11. There’s not a lot of detail on the event so I thought I’d add some things to help others planning to go.
The event started pretty close to on time at 9pm. We headed to the venue at 7:30 but since the field was wet we were redirected to park at Young’s dairy and take a shuttle. We still got seated with 45 minutes to spare. We were allowed to bring a water bottle, and there were two food trucks open. We were allowed to bring our food in to the venue. No alcohol was served which is too bad so I would suggest having drinks before you come. The seats were very hard so you might want to bring a cushion of some kind because you’ll be sitting for maybe three or four hours. They had air-conditioned bathroom trailers which was fantastic no issues there. Masks were encouraged but not required and they handed out masks and ponchos to everyone. At one point we heard some thunder and employee came around and made sure everyone had a poncho which was very considerate. Luckily it did not rain. We got to see five different comedians before Dave came on (including Jon Stewart); and all of them were fantastic. Dave came on just after 11 PM and went for about an hour. I think the whole show wrapped up about 12:30, The biggest snafu with the night was getting the shuttle back to our car which took about an hour, but I didn’t mind too much.
Some other notes about the venue: there was a separate smoking area and a tent with free CBD samples. Also when you check in they put your phone in a locked pouch which you can’t open until the show is over. Apparently last year there was a photo booth so you could at least get a souvenir photo but this time there wasn’t so I was a little disappointed that we have no pictures from the evening at all. They did have T-shirts and other things for sale and they handed out branded souvenir masks so I guess that’s what I’ll be able to keep to remember the evening. Also, you might want a little bug spray although it wasn’t really a problem.
Dave said that this was the second to last show ever. I hope that’s not true- this was a really fun evening and I would love to be able to do this again sometime. (We did go in to Yellow Springs before the show and spend some money there so you would think the community would be supportive). Overall, totally...
Read moreThis was a tremendous disappointment. I have a medical condition that prohibits me from being able to wear a mask and the lady running the show refused to let us in. After a 1 hour drive to see the show, hiring a dog sitter and changing our plans we were turned away from this outdoor event because I was unable to wear a mask. I offered to wear one into the event and once you are inside it is fine if you have food or drink (which of course you purchase inside) to not wear the mask and it didn't seem to be an issue for all the smokers but.....for someone with a legitimate condition to come in and enjoy the show (even after I offered to purchase a bottle of water so I could sit in there) it was a no-go. This isn't a reflection on Dave at all....he is still my favorite comedian but, the inconsistencies in their policies should be more clearly stated at time of purchase so that people who are in the same boat as I am would not waste the time or money in the first place. If safety were truly the issue I would assume they would enforce a stricter policy on gatherings of people huddled together smoking. Again, Dave is my favorite comedian and I will look forward to being able to see him live in the future at a more reasonable venue. I would never see ANY show at Wiring. Side note.....if safety and germs were truly a concern they may want to occasionally clean the bathroom facilities.....in 48 years and countless seasons of tailgating I have never had the misfortune of using a...
Read moreThe one star 🌟 is for the scam ticket sales on ticketmaster for the Dave Chappelle comedy show. 🤣 Such a laughable ticket scam. Tickets are now on resale for $1600 each. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😠😠😠😠 Reply anf update: To keep your establishment and beautiful venue for the community you should try not being part of a clearly obvious ticket scam. It's just like the Taylor Swift ticket scam all over again. At least Taylor addressed the issue. Address the issue to Dave then. Tickets shouldn't be sold to your venue if they ARE NOT REALLY ON SALE FOR THE PUBLIC! I will address the township trustee. Thanks...
