This CCC constructed dam was a pretty and peaceful destination after a really nice, slightly challenging one-mile hike on Tram Road Trail along Jones Run in Laurel Hill State Park. And the dam itself is a unique construction of massive stones built like stairs, unlike anything I had seen before. We'll be heading to this trail to the dam again; it should be especially gorgeous in the fall !

Small dam that holds back a small fishing pond. Plenty of flowing water in the spring. No visible trout or other stocked or wild fish. Plenty of rocks under your feet at various points on the trail. Some footpath bridges are flat and serviceable others appear in need of assessment and repair/ replacement. Found an elusive painted trillium botanical......outstanding specimen!

Short, fun-filled hike full of little challenges and adventures for big and little kids. Less than a mile one way, relatively flat, with exciting features like bridges to cross and logs to climb. Many spots to play in the crick all along the way. Loved that there were trash receptacles at the end. Great options for a lunch time out and back with a picnic at the dam.
