"chicken egg rolls"
Tried out these egg-rolls,, to see if we would discover something really good, OK, they tasted good to start, full of flavor when it became noticeable a little salty, had a drink wash, ate all the rest of it and then realized...salty! very salty a deep sort of penetrating congregation on my tongue, and then I realized my mouth was singing salt!
I retrieved the box from the trash.... low and behold ! .... when I read the label ! See below The numbers will speak for themselves sea-salt salt salt SALT salty salty a salt SALT SALT SALT SALT
Read moreI give the Kahiki Supper Club a posthumous rating of 5 stars as it was, simply put, an awe inspiring place. Great drinks, INCREDIBLE surroundings, very friendly staff...and the food varied from EXCELLENT (Tahitian Mermaid, Mahi Mahi almondine, Rack of lamb with Indonesian spices) to just okay (Samoan Flaming chicken was sometimes over cooked and dry....but oh did it look cool!) . I give Kahiki processed frozen foods one star. Sadly, I found it to be unremarkable at its very best. For me, the worst part about it is that it bears no resemblance to the food served in the restaurant. It is Kahiki in name only. The food at the Kahiki was sometimes hit and miss like I said...but even the Samoan Flaming chicken was 100 times better than the processed frozen Asian food the company now focuses on.
I would give it two stars if the name Kahiki wasn't on the package. Kahiki will be forever remembered as the legendary restaurant and as long as the name is on the package, people will compare the two who sampled both. Like another reviewer correctly identified, you can't replace a restaurant with processed food....I don't care good your marketing is. The mystery lady has been replaced with a microwave. The secret spices replaced with the new secret ingredient....SALT.
Fortunately, there are some recipes floating around out there published in books and on websites that actually recreate the dishes of the Kahiki. The only REAL Kahiki food is not what is made in the processed food plant in Gahanna. It is that which is made in people's home kitchens served in their dining rooms or home tiki bars.
It is said that when the moon is full and the wind is blowing a certain way, you can still hear the mystery lady's gong while driving past the Walgreens on East Broad Street. Don't stop and go in though....as you wont find any Tahitian Mermaid or tiki mugs...only bottled water and medications for high blood pressure in case you decided to eat too much...
Read moreMy family and I tried the Kahiki Chicken Lo Mein last evening.
I have to say I was very disappointed with the product.
1st : The were only two small pieces of chicken in the whole package. not enough for the two of use to eat. 2nd: the broccoli was mostly the stalks with very little top parts. 3rd: very little to none red peppers. 4th: lots of celery and carrots which I take it are the least expensive of the vegetables.
Called up the grocery store where I bought it they told me to take it up with the company. There was nothing they were willing to do. The store was Food Lion here in Virginia.
Also called up the company and was put into a voice mail account that was full and couldn't take any messages.
All in all I will never buy this or any of there products again.
I do not recommend this product or company at all.
I wish there was a minus score...
