There was 0 integrity as the event unfolded that we planned for 7-8 months mostly via email due to having busy work schedules and the flexibility from the planner was not there. The communication from the start was poor. We were told at one point, after signing a contract: “we don’t do weddings this size.” We had about 30 people so it was a smaller wedding but they made it seem as they do these often. Also finding out the day of our event, planner Caitlin had put in her two week notice to resign! As her attitude had already shifted to being one-foot out the door, and not really being there as needed, as for what we paid for. We were told Great Rivers hosts 1 event a day, this was not the case either. We arrived early around 12:45pm with nothing prepared when we were told when the event prior to us was finishing a day before and we would start preparing. Absent Caitlin was excusing herself to give her notice and decided to let us know as we were trying to prepare and nothing was getting done with the event only hours away from people arriving. One of the beverage managers let us into the suite to drop things off. Once Caitlin was finished with her personal calls, she told us they would start setting up at 2pm as we were telling her nothing was setup and there seems to be not a lot happening and guests arriving at 3:30pm. Caitlin cleared the room and started half-hazardously setting up. I came into the ballroom to the wrong linens down and Caitlin was placing center pieces, I had to correct her. She was completely unprepared, and had no regard. Where is the clipboard, the preparation, the notes we spent months on picking and choosing? She assured us it would be already setup a day prior, the rest of the family arrived around 2:15pm to get ready with, after wading through the large dinner party (that was not ours) outside as our guests were short to arrive. Caitlin busy with the large party outside that was not ours and was not directing any of our party and guests upon arriving. Not one of our guests arriving received any refreshments. There was no ushering people to where they were suppose to go. Guests were to come in and sign books, drop off gifts, receive refreshments that they never got before the ceremony. As that was included in our pricing. The grooms sisters were going back and forth with family ushering them where to get ready, and where to go. Even the grooms at one point?! Caitlin the assistant/planner, that we paid good money for, was with a different party! As we were getting ready, in the hallway, they are checking in an entire rehearsal dinner of 40-50 people. Caitlin was absent and not directing our party we paid over $5000 for.Yet again- After the ceremony there was no directing of the crowd of where to go. We waited embarrassed with the photographer for Caitlin as she finished her personal call to take us to the fountain to take pictures. None of this went unnoticed by guests, and by our vendors. When you have vendors asking you where the coordinator/planner is and why they are absent that’s not a good representation. I had to have close family step in and direct around and that alone is embarrassing. From the lack of respect and integrity for my “micro wedding” shall not go unnoticed, to the blatant disregard of Caitlin with her face buried in her phone when she was most needed and or if she was needed, she was no where to be found and unavailable. Everything was very rushed including breaking down too quickly. We had the venue until 9:30pm and they began to wheel in more tables and break down what we had at 8:30pm to setup for another party. Cake was tossed quickly before people even sat to eat. My vendors Emily McCarrol, the photographer, and DJ Dom from CNT, directed my family around and keeping the wedding coordinated to some degree. I would recommend to go somewhere else especially for spending this kind of money. This was a joke, I feel bamboozled for what we paid and how we were treated. My vendors also took note. We will be sure friends and family avoid this place...

We held our wedding reception at Great River in August 2024, and we could not be any happier with how our reception turned out.

Working with Great River was truly a pleasure. Karin, Suzie and Abby were so easy to work with and they treated us like we were family throughout the entire process.

The Great River staff was so thoughtful and organized with every aspect of the reception. They provided us with an excellent list of vendor recommendations that made planning our day so easy. They also coordinated with our vendors the week of the wedding and the day of to make the execution easy and carefree for us (including bus transportations from a local hotel to drop our guests off!). The Great River staff provided a plan for timing and even worked with our band to keep a good flow and everything on track. We credit this to Suzie who really went above and beyond with everything she did. She even offered to help me make our menu cards and drink signage.

Abby was amazing to work with and on the day of our wedding, she always had drinks ready for the two of us and did anything to make us feel comfortable, including fixing my dress train and even clearing broken glass off our dance floor immediately as no guests were hurt (despite numerous broken glasses throughout the evening).

We and our guests were blown away with the food, service and bar which can be attributed to Chef Matt and Dan. Our food tasting experience with Chef Matt was a memorable day in preparation for our wedding, and the kitchen executed flawlessly not only on dinner but on the raw bar and pasta stations during the cocktail hour. The bar, which allowed us two signature cocktails, was never backed up and all of our guests were happy with the service.

The ballroom and outdoor areas at Great River are beautiful venues for your cocktail hour and wedding. The staff left no detail uncovered. When most other venues will try to upcharge you on almost anything that you ask for, Great River asked us what else they could do for us and were willing to work with us. I truly can’t recommend having a wedding at Great River enough. The team did such an amazing job and our day couldn’t have been better between the food, drinks,...

Met my friend halfway to play 36. This was our afternoon round. When we got to the drop off we weren’t exactly certain where to leave our bags and check in. The kid apologized finally and told us to set them down next to the pick up. We left our bags and I left a giant bottle of water next to it. Go up to the first tee. My water was missing and my bag put on backwards. Cool start. We play the entire 9 without the beverage cart girl. It was almost 90 degrees. Awesome. We make the turn where I get water at station. Told the guy at the turn about no cart girl. He had no idea. But we did see her. Same guy now tells us to we have to wait for 15 min because where the wedding was located it was next to par 3. He didn’t want pictures with carts going by. At this point I’m pretty frustrated. I’m paying $140 dollars for this? I voice my discontent to the same man. So he had another guy take us around to the hole number 11 where would come back to ply the par 3 last. We said absolutely. We play two holes. A par five first. As we get to the par 5 green. We See FIVE players teeing off on a par 3. To confirm what we saw. As we come to the par 3 tee box. Indeed a fivesome! As we stand on the par three tee box for five min. Watching one looking for his ball and the others WAITING for him to putt or come up. No one let’s us play through(we are a twosome). My buddy and I agree at now 645 pm 4 holes to go plus the par three we skipped. We were in Trouble not only finishing but waiting or skipping another because of these idiots. So we left and confirmed that they were indeed a hole and a half behind. We get back to the pro shop and express our concerns for a possible refund or free play. Left info and my buddy was told the best they could do was a 9 hole refund.

Really? So I come to a semi private course. Pay $140. My bags on backwards. My water is missing. No cart girl. No water. Skipping holes. Playing behind fivesomes. NO ranger. Totally UNACCEPTABLE!! Shame on you guys. Will not be back. There was good thing. The ppl in the restaurant were very nice and I ate slamming burger before I played. Not worth $140...
