Showed up to drop my computer off while the secretary was out of the office. This was probably my biggest mistake because I was left to deal with the actual technician who just stared at me as if I was speaking another language when I was telling him what I needed done with my computer. I ran off a list of about 3-4 things that were wrong with the computer and when I picked it up I was told that they fixed my boot order and ran a diagnostic that I could have ran from home.
My mistake was not using my computer actively over the next few weeks as the problem persisted the second time I turned my computer on. Nothing had been fixed, just temporarily masked.
This is all to be expected though when dealing with a computer, but I expected a bit more from their service. I was not looking for the basic package when I took my computer in, I was looking to spend some money and have all of my issues dealt with and all of my hardware checked. Again, this most likely would have been avoided if I had gone in when the secretary was there to document what I wanted done.
All of this set aside, my favorite part of the experience was when I got my computer home and realized that someone at Tom's Help Desk had mistakenly synced a random stranger's wedding photographs...
Read moreI dropped my computer on a cement floor and thankfully found out that I had only dislodged my SSID card. This was due to the extremely helpful techs at Tom's Help Desk. Upon further inspection of my computer, which they asked permission to inspect, it was determined that the device was heating up quickly when operational, which I had realized myself. They recommended a simple solution, to which I agreed, and I had my computer back within a couple of days. I had used this company many years before there were ever reviews to write or read, and even then, found them to be both polite, respectful and knowledgeable. In today's world, that is seriously lacking, but not in this shop. I'm embarrassed that I cannot remember the young lady's name who helped me, but she made a powerful first impression, which eased my thoughts about serious problems.
