Khalsa Raj — Local services in Millis

I love ALL my Kirpans and Turban Pins from Khalsa Raj. This purchase was different because I needed jewelry to take the place of my kirpan, which is not allowed during events with US and foreign dignitaries (for security reasons). I was in a time crunch.

I choose the stylish "Extra small khanda and kirpan in vermeil" (24kt gold heavy electroplate on solid sterling silver).

The purchase arrived quickly, the price was affordable, and the product matched the images online and in printed advertisements. Some things to note: The chain is VERY detailed (to catch light and add sparkle). Very pretty actually. I always carefully wash chains (with warm water/soap & water). Sometimes the rinse is forgotten or rushed, or chemical transfer happens due to poor work habits. When electroplating highly detailed chains, more care is required to ensure ALL surfaces are equally dipped. The chain I received caused a burn. I cleaned it properly. I am not allergic to sterling silver or gold electroplating. I sought medical treatment, but still had 2 events left for that week. I decided to put the pendants on my own 18kt gold chain (solid gold) I have worn for over 2yrs. The Khalsa Raj pendants couldn't be removed from the electroplated chain they came on, without cutting the chain - destroying half my purchase. Being wasteful bothers me more than the burn.

I am still wearing the pendants (which I love btw) on my own chain. They are beautiful. No issues with my skin whatsoever. However, pendants should be removable from the chains they came with. I did ask this very question before purchase, but never got an answer.

Will I continue to buy Kirpans from Khalsa Raj? Absolutely! He knows arms and (fortunately for us) makes a line of Kirpans affordable for everyday Khalsas. They are beautiful and also usable, suitable for all Khalsa (3HO and traditionalists - like myself). How about Jewelry? As gifts for others - yes. For myself? I'll gladly buy more pendants and turban pins. But nothing electroplated. All metals will be tested.
