Dang! that was good. I've had several of their sodas and my favorite is the Diet Butterscotch Root Beer. My wife loves the Red Cream and one of my best friends goes gaga over their Maraschino Cherry, more especially when mixed with chocolate ice cream. I actually didn't know much about this small Milwaukee Company and tried it on a whim and dang, am I glad I did. But what's with this name, I thought to myself? Was "aw Shucks", "golly gee whillakers" or "wowzers" already taken? After we had a few chuckles in the house, I decided I wanted a case but the store was out and I called down to the place they make the stuff and they agreed to sell me a case out of the front of the factory where they have a little store. I got there and I met John, one of the family owners and we got into this deep discussion about flavors and sweeteners and went down some really interesting rabbit holes about food sciences. He's like the Neil degras Tyson of soda -- he really knows his stuff. So now I know all sorts of differences about artificial sweeteners, what's safe and what's not, what shelf stable really means, and why certain sodas should be consumed within a couple months and left out of the sun or you'll get a weird bitterness. Anyway, if you have a chance to try these artisan sodas, don't hesitate. This isn't hastily tossed together sugar water, this is well thought out, tested and even researched stuff, all done by John and his brother. I'll be buying more Dang! in the future now that I have a better understanding of how and why things are put together and taste the way...
