Its unfortunate that I have to leave this review because I've always found Old Sycamore to be a nice course. Well, the value seems nicer to me when you catch a deal on Golfnow or any other discounted site.
So last week we had a foursome booked for 12:48pm. Around 12:36p the starter asked us to go in front of the 12:34p group which happened to be the tee time for the owner of the golf course.
He was was busy talkng to landscapers who were digging a trench on the driving range, while his other group members stood by near him waiting for him to stop chatting. We proceeded to the tee box to tee off as instructed by the starter. All of a sudden the owner and his group of "5 PEOPLE" drove around our carts while we were on the tee box, stopped at the tee box for seniors, with "5 PEOPLE", and they tee'd off as if we didn't exist! This is called PRIVILEDGE at its finest!
So you are over 10 minutes late for your tee times and see another group about to tee off and don't even give them common respect to say anything to them. Especially when you have "5 PEOPLE" and with daylight saving time changing it's gettin darker sooner! I thought it was against their policy to let a group of "5 PEOPLE" book a tee time anyway?
He didn't value nor respect paying customers that day who help keep that place running! That's was a very bad customer experience!!! He should really avoid this type of privilege in the future and respect...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreReally great course, very enjoyable for all skill levels, fairways and greens were in great condition. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Only reason this isnāt getting 5 stars is because on the second hole, my friend and I had to wait on our approach shots because the residents of the closest house were taking pictures together on the green. When we got to the green, those same residents proceeded to yell at my friend and I as we tried to putt, using extremely vulgar and threatening language. I have never experienced this before on any golf course, let alone one as nice as this, and quite frankly I was shocked that anybody could be so poorly mannered towards two strangers who were just trying to enjoy a game. I called the pro shop and alerted them of this issue. They said they would check it out, although I did not receive a follow up, so Iām not sure what happened. I do not know how much control the course administrators have over this kind of issue, but I would hope that they at least asked the residents to remain within their yard, i.e. not be standing on the green as players are trying to hit their approach, and to be respectful of the golfers who are just trying to enjoy a nice round. This experience definitely added a negative note to our round, however I loved everything else about this course and I will most definitely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe live in Olde Sycamore and my 11 yr old son has started showing interest in trying Golf. So we go up to the clubhouse and the Pro Shop to get some info. Well that was like pulling teeth. We walked up and the employee was on the phone, we waited a minute or 2 and he hung up and went straight back to the computer. So I "interrupted" him by saying that we lived in the neighborhood and my son who was with me was interested trying out the course. I then asked how much to play, was told, without him looking up, depends on the day. That was it, no further inquiry as to when we thought we'd like to play or anything. So I "interrupt" him again and ask him if he can tell me the rates for which days. He then untapes something off the desk he was sitting at and hand me the price list and goes back to the computer. I then ask if they rent clubs, he says yes (still looking at the computer). I then ask how much it cost to rent clubs, his answer was we don't have junior club rentals. Then goes back to the computer. He definitely doesn't need to be in any customer service position as either he has asperges or just is apathetic about his job. Think I might find a more pleasant and inviting place to...
