Landrum's Homestead & Village — Local services in Mississippi

It's a replica of an old small town where they have it beautifully decorated for different holidays. There aren't technically any entertainment or festivities, it's more like just a 20-minute stroll thru small town olden days. The downfalls are that the buildings are too close together and there's not enough area to walk around much, especially with so many customers trying to get into the small spaces. The gift shop is nice but small and crowded. It was very busy during our visit so not possible to shop. What they have here is very nice, although maybe not so well planned out for public use. Of course, back in olden times the population wasn't what it is today. It would probably be a nice experience when or if it's not so busy. It's a classic experience, great for a family outing! I took a 3 and 6 yr old and they were bored for some of it (old cabins full of old stuff) but loved the center area where there was music, games, the fire pit with marshmallows, and treats. Then we went to the lake and watched the music-coordinated lights, that was beautiful, and fed the giant catfish. Next was the tractor ride (like a hay ride but no hay) through the woods (I enjoyed, the littles got bored). Then the Maze house... 5 times... (definite winner for them!) and the Mystery House... 6 times... (their favorite, had to drag them out of there!). We spent over an hour exploring and their 3rd favorite thing was the laser lights that shine and dance around - we spent over 30 minutes dancing with the red and green balls of light. This was a class field trip for my child's 5th grade and the school just turned about 175 fifth grade children loose upon this place let me say for the school bad idea for the people here at landrums I give you a hats off you all handled it like this happens every day which I hope for your sanity does not never heard a single grumble or complaint from the staff n trust me they had many reasons in my opinion to do so never seen a single frown from them either I on the other hand had plenty that day all In all this is a great place would love to return with my child n my husband n maybe one or two of my child's friends and do it in a much more structured way and get to truly enjoy this lovely place.
