I recently had a very disappointing and unprofessional experience with a staff member in the financial aid office. I went in to get assistance applying for my last student loan and to confirm there were no holds on my account as well as other questions. Normally I work with Jordan, who is always extremely helpful, but she was on lunch so I was directed to another staff member.
From the moment we began this staff members tone and demeanor were condescending and dismissive. When I explained I needed help with the loan process and checking for holds, I was told, “You could have looked that up online.” I tried to explain that I had already attempted this and was having issues, but instead of offering assistance, she continued to make me feel like I was inconveniencing her.
When I politely said, “I appreciate your help, but I would prefer to wait for Jordan,” she said “Well I was going to help you!” and even followed me out into the hallway. I heard her talking to the front desk about me right when I left. I felt so uncomfortable by this staff member I waited in my car.
This behavior was completely disrespectful and unprofessional. I was polite the entire time and only wanted help to ensure everything was processed correctly. I would have gladly worked with her if not for her attitude, rudeness, and unnecessary comments.
Students deserve to feel supported and respected, especially when dealing with something as important as financial aid. This kind of conduct does not reflect well on the college, and I truly hope this is addressed so other students don’t experience the...
Read moreI had a decent experience. Some of the teachers were very great, while others were not. Artie Fowler and Diane Tigner were very rude and condescending to me most of the times I needed help with academic advising. My credits didn't transfer very well into Truman State, but I still don't regret starting with the community college. I was a straight A student at MACC, and I am a straight A student at Truman as well. Life is what you make it, I guess. MACC can be an excellent...
Read moreI enjoyed my time here. I will be graduating in December with my Associate's in Psychology and I will be transferring to UMSL for Spring semester. I definitely recommend Michael Johnson as an advisor because it seems like he is the only one who knows how to actually be an advisor. Work hard and the work pays off. The ones giving bad reviews are...
