Stopped in to get some sliced ham from the Deli . There were 2 women working the deli, an 80 y/o and a middle age woman. There was one person ahead of me. After 10 minutes of waiting I was no closer to getting waited on. The 80 y/o was moving at a snail’s pace and after she slicing the ham would crush it together in her hand and stuff it in a bag. The middle age woman was doing anything she could find to avoid waiting on customers. After 10 minutes I went to find the Manager, he was a few aisles over. He could care less about getting the Deli personnel moving. Finally I gave up and just left the store empty handed. As Berkots has grown, they care less and less about customers. Looks like the new Store Manager has been SUPER busy... Cleaner, more items coming in increasing selection, OUTSTANDING Deli for a small town and "new" specials that are PHENOMENAL.... (CHECK OUT the adult Lunchables which are PERFECT when heading down to dip a line into the old Kankakee River!)
If you don't see it... ASK! They have special ordered items for me several times and even came in under the Amazon price where I was purchasing previously.
Prices are that of a small town grocery.... if you want a bit cheaper Wally World is about 20 mins away..... not like the store can do much about this issue....
Glad they are in town and will...

The fried chicken is to die for, as are a number of the fresh-made salads. Baked goods are not as numerous, however. It is well stocked for its size. In fact, its size is the one downgrade I would give it: the aisles are rather narrow And it's hard to have people move past each other side-by-side without a fair bit of leaning. Like I said, small town. All in all, Berkot's is a very good place to shop. It's convenient and clean, and the selection keeps you from having to run all the to Walmart (13 miles away) to find something - at least...
