Don't expect a good education from here. The staff here is absolutely useless. I took one class last winter(2023) and was told the last time I was physically in the office registering, picking classes and talking to financial aid that everything was going to be covered by financial aid and that I had $600 to spend in the book store. When I bought my books it was just over $300. Then I get a bill in the mail about a month ago in 2024 saying I owe them about $120. When I called them the first time in January 2024 I had to leave a message and they never called me back. Weeks later I call again and am told that I owe them for my books. That the pell grant covered the tuition and fees but there was not enough left for the books. But when I bought my books I was never even given an option to put a credit card in to pay for anything. Now they're telling me that the Michigan reconnect only covers tuition and fees and that's why I owe for the books. When I asked why I was not told any of this when I was in the office speaking with them before the class in 2023 I was told it's because they are understaffed and everyone that year was new. Seriously?!? So basically I have a bill unexpectedly because they're understaffed and nobody knows what they're doing? I asked the financial aid office this she said yes basically. Absolutely useless. Why was I told everything would be covered and that I had $600 in the bookstore? And now I'm being told that was a lie and their excuse is that they don't know what they're doing and apparently do not train...
Read moreHalf of the professors here are either biased, unreasonable, rude, or all of the above. I'm not sure what I expected from a community college, but hey, I guess they all have their fair share of pretentious liberal arts idiots. I've been an all A student my whole life as well, but some of these classes are next to impossible to pass. This does not apply as much to the hard science classes (which are often times either fine, or just have poor formatting), but more so in random requirement courses (such as humanities, visual media, etc.) With those classes, it is more important to be able to understand how to use course related words in a piece that relates to the opinion of the professor, than to actually use course concepts in a way that makes sense for the assignment. Otherwise, the campus is beautiful. Each building is well organized and kept up, with new additional being added all of the time. The study rooms in L and F building especially provide a great place to work on projects and hang out with friends. Overall, the campus is great, meanwhile the classes themselves are essentially a coin toss on whether you get a great professor/class, or a...
Read moreVery poor experience here. I have taken many other online courses. I enrolled at mccc for an English course online, I received the most confusing syllabus and we were to have no online classes or pre recorded lectures. By the time I realized what I had paid for was trash , I only qualified for 1/2 refund for a dropped course. I was willing to accept that refund and the school said I would get it . After 1 month I still do not have a refund .. buyer beware unacceptable !!
Once you pay your tuition Alex from admissions will not return your emails or calls. I am waiting for a call back from the campus Dean. The overall attitude of those at this campus is that they do not care about...
