Known about this course since 1994, played for first time last week. Was a CGA tournament course. Understand! Ash borer took down trees. But, let’s be honest, the fairways are firm and roll out to the max. How fun for the recreational golfer, I’m a 11 handicap. Makes playing from 7119 yards fun and doable. Honestly, hitting from crabgrass on a wet day is better than your ball plugging into bent grass. Also, these green complexes are Kidwell design. This is a wonderful golf course. Play out of the bunkers as natural areas, The greens have so much character and slope. The fairways are generous, the layout is spectacular. A shot maker course. Decisions to be made. $18 to walk. What more does anyone need. Kevin, Pro is very nice. Staff is wonderful. Abundant pro shop and good food and beverage area. If you aren’t happy with this course, file your complaints to the State of Ohio, Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Get them to financially improve this course ! If they don’t, they don’t care about Ohio State Parks Golf Courses. Revive this gem of a golf course of the State Park system. This is a 5 star course, take it or leave it But most of all, come play it to keep it alive for others. A walk, playing this course with a friend or loved one will treat your soul to the benefit of Health and the true game of golf. Just enjoy it, without the high cost of elitist...
Read moreI haven’t been able to make the track to play here in probably 4 years maybe, and I don’t see any reason to return; ever; after my round yesterday. This place is by far in the worst condition that I’ve ever seen it. No mention that the green were severely aerated when booking the tee time, because if so, I wouldn’t have played here. It was so bad our group had to implement a max two putt rule due to too much sand. You needed a wedge versus a putter due to large amounts of sand on the green. The fairways were a whole new different story. They were overtaken by crabgrass and weeds. Very poor conditions overall. They did purchase new carts though but in my mind you needed to purchase round up instead. The course comes first not the carts. Sadden by my round because I used to LOVE this course and now that feeling is gone. If it looked as though attempts were made to improve the conditions I’d come back, however I’m not hopeful of the situation.
p.s. too bad Google won’t let me post pics. It would highlight the issues...
Read moreThis course is way over priced at $70 per person for the shape the course is in. The women's and senior tees are completely dead. And dead spots all over every green which makes it hard to putt. No Marshall or Started at the course. Range balls are in bad shape. There are cheaper courses in much better shape and more friendlier staff. Absolutely not worth playing very disappointed. Course manager is out of state so I don't expect it to get in any better condition when he is not around or hear back on my complaint. Wish I would not have wasted my money on...
