A nice school with a clean campus. My reason for three stars has to do with Delta's issues when it comes to disbursing financial aid payments to students. Delta holds grant monies until late in the semester, supposedly to protect themselves from students receiving their grant money then dropping classes. I'm sure there are other ways the college could handle this issue without potentially harming poor students who do not have the means to pay for college basics at the beginning of the semester. As it stands, the college takes it's cut of the financial aid money off the top, and students are left to flounder without aid to buy their books or other supplies. I realize there are other colleges out there that do this, that Delta is not unique in the way it handles its financial aid. However, if I had a choice to do it all again, had I known I would not have financial aid to help me purchase books or help me get started at the beginning of the year when the grant money is most needed, I would have chosen another school. If you are a potential student and you know you will be relying on financial aid, consider this a heads up. Know before you register at Delta that you will not receive any financial aid at the beginning of the semester to pay for your books or starter supplies. Prepare to pay hundreds of dollars out of pocket for...
Read moreDon't walk, run far away from this institution of "higher learning." If there is an alternative to taking courses at this college, do so. From my experience, LA Delta Community College has been a constant source of misleading information, as its financial aid, admissions, and registrar offices are often unorganized (to put it very lightly). Likewise, their policies are subject to change as quickly as they make them, but I am sure this is done to keep their "credentials." Like most other students you will probably have the pleasure of speaking to around campus, the financial aid office will become an undoubted issue in one way or another during your attendance. Please make sure that you have readily available cash stashed away or credit cards on-hand, as you may not receive that elusive "refund check" until it is well past taking your first exam. A word of advice for future students, be fully prepared for the headaches you may have to endure before attending this college, and (by all means) make sure that you get everything in writing when speaking to someone within any office, because the burden of proof will always be on you for...
