My first time on this trail was a beautiful October day, although there seems to be a decent sized parking area, the lot was full. There are signs that say "If parking lot full come back another day" and a police officer was monitoring that no one made there own parking spot. After leaving and coming back 15 min later I got lucky someone was leaving. The hike is easy enough for kids but difficult enough to get the heart pumping. The large gravel the have was great keeping the trail from being muddy after a rainy night, i stil would recommend high top boots because theres alot of ankle twisting possibilty on these rocks. The trails have been greatly maintaind over time and they recently just put up new signs To Help guide directions. What's also really nice is the second trail called the lake loop trail it's separate but still part of the nature preserve. It's very nice to take family out to sit there and enjoy the serenity. Read moreThis is a wonderful trail system, not too difficult to climb for day hikers and everything is fairly well maintained. Once you've made it to the peak however, it does get a little tricky to follow some of the trails around the peak and back to where you started... And it certainly isn't an ADA compliant trail. Be ready to climb over obstacles some natural, but some put in place to control erosion from the water sheeting down the trails. All in all a very worthwhile hike and nice...
