Black Stallion Steak House Restaurant — Local services in Monticello

I live in monticello and have eaten here several times. It's one of a handful of sit down restaurants here. Some of my family members from out of town came to visit, so we decided to eat here a couple days ago. It was a horrible experience! I would give them 0 stars if I could. First, of all we sat there for 20 minutes and nobody had come to take our drink orders. We had to go tell them before our waitress came to get our drink orders. Then, we waited another 30 minutes before they came to get our food orders. We arrived at 6pm this past Monday and we didn't leave until almost 9:30pm. We waited almost 3 hours to get our food. When they did bring our food, I ordered a streak cooked medium well, and my steak was medium rare! I had them take it back and cook it a little longer. When they brought our checks we had them separate them into two checks. My husband immediately paid the waitress cash, and gave her a $15 dollar tip. As we were walking out the door, one of my family members heard the staff saying that we did not pay for our food. My husband walked over to them and they accused him of not paying in front of everyone in the restaurant including my neighbors who were also there dining. My husband told them he paid our waitress at the table. They started arguing with my husband yelling that he didn't pay. He asked them to go get our waitress and she would tell them. Our waitress came out and acted as if she didn't know what they were talking about. Finally, she got the cash out of her pocket and said oh, yeah he did pay! Really!! She had kept the cash in her pocket instead of putting it into the register and closing the receipt. I honestly feel as if she was going to keep the money. He paid her cash, left her a nice tip and she didn't even give us a receipt which I found odd. Horrible service! Not only did it take 3 hours to get our food, but they messed up several orders and on top of that they yelled and tried to belittle us in front of everyone, while accusing us of not paying. We will NOT be eating there again. I would rather drive to somerset that give this place my business. We were so upset, not to mention embarrassed and we did nothing wrong. The waitress should be reprimanded or possibly fired. You do NOT treat people like that. Save your money and...

So after 4 years I'm leaving another review of this poorly ran establishment. Today is July 2nd, 2022 and we arrived with a part of 16 to be greeted by 1 waitress. She did the best she could but with 16 guests management should of given her help. My wife and I ordered and to avoid the incident that happened 4 years ago I just ordered the sirloin tips and she had the sirloin steak. We ordered an appetizer as well. First off the waitress struggled to keep up on drinks for 16 people. Then when the food came my steak was served BEFORE the appetizer, in which I informed our waitress I was not going to purchase due to the entree was served before. The appetizer was taken back, then out of the entire party we asked for A1, we received two plastic containers that held enough for 2 servings. My wife did not receive hers until we asked what the problem was. It was discovered her food was given to someone else at end of table and then they attempted to give her that plate (after it was eaten off of), in which I demanded she receive her food remade due to this incident. After waiting over 40 mins my wife was served a steak that was medium well after asking for well done. Needless to say, we did not pay for her food or the appetizer. I paid for mine and we went to the Sonic.

Visited here for my first and last time. I arrived with a group of 10 and upon entering I asked if they would accommodate to the disabled considering I have no use of my right arm or right hand. A young waitress informed me that they would and after being seated we were given a new waitress named Jamie. I ordered a 10oz well done sirloin and asked if I could get that cut into pieces considering my disability, I was informed by Jamie I could cut it myself. My friend helped me to prepare my dinner, and under the American with Disabilities Act I'm very tempted to have a lawsuit against this...

Chips and salsa appetizer didn't have much salsa at all, dipping a large size chip only once, we run out quick and had half of the chips still left over. No free refills, so for that reason,why would I order the same appetizer again? I can eat dry chips at a gas station.

My sons 12 oz New York strip was cooked medium, but no flavor on it, no salt or pepper .

My 12 oz ribeye, tasted good, had plenty of flavor, but I was served a thin cut steak, like you get at Waffle House. You can't cook a steak that thin to a perfect medium, it was somewhat pink but no juices. This kind of cut, maybe can be served for breakfast,but not for $16.99. I asked for my side to be sauteed mushrooms.Waiter asked if I would like to have onions and bell peppers as well. I said sure, if I can get them all, sounds good.

The side arrived slightly late, with a bunch of peppers and onions, 2 tiny mushrooms, not round big ones, but 2 small flat pieces.Really?

Mushrooms are what I wanted to start with. To make things worse, heating up bell peppers and onions , does not mean they are sauteed. They were hard. They need to be soft and caramelized. I would have told the kitchen manager to stick them up his, had I not been out for a special occasion. Your menu is good, prices are good but you can't deliver the quality to get me to be a return customer.
