Harris Grocery — Local services in Monticello

Great little store with a good variety of items. You can get gasoline and diesel of course. They also have a great deli, great hot food, and normal convience store variety of snacks, drinks, beer selection and tobacco products. The hidden gem is in the hardware store and small grocery store towards the back! Expect to pay slightly more for the convience of products and the location. My only complaint would be that so far I have not had the best customer service. I've been here six or seven times so far in the past two months. Every time I have gotten either short snappy answers from employees. Or basically no communication at all. I like that longtime locals are treated good and can stand around and bullshit with the cashier / employees. I am fairly new to the store, but I only live 2 miles from it. However I have lived in this county for over 15 years. I feel like an unwanted tourist as soon as I walk in and the whole time until I am back out the door. It's prime location gets a lot of traffic and sales from tourist each boating season from other areas, states. So I wonder how they are treated. my family has had a place a mile from this store since before I was born, 31 years ago. the store used to be owned by Pearl, then it was G+H Grocery, now its Harris Grocery. great, friendly people with Teddy, owner, on site most of the time (his daughter is a local real estate agent, if you ever need one). its a family run business that sells everything you could need from meat, dairy, breads, candy, hardware, tools, fresh made sandwiches, sides, and pizzas (supreme pizza is AWESOME), gardening equipment, live bait, fuel, propane, ice, gravel, sand, and just about anything else you can think of ever needing without having to drive 20 more minutes to Nancy or even further to Somerset. during our summer trips, we find ourselves visiting the store every day for something, or just for something to do. We are from Somerset and were out in that area today. My nephew was doing some tree trimming for one of his co-workers and we stopped on our way out to get something to drink. We decided to get something to eat and it was absolutely delicious. The fish dinner was very good, coleslaw was excellent the batter dipped fries were delicious! The chicken tenders were delicious as well. Very clean and friendly restaurant. We will venture back out that way again to eat....
