This was the first time I visited this racetrack, and it was great. The track was fast and action-packed. On this particular night, late models, modifieds, street stocks, and hornets were on the card.
The grandstands are not very high, but they span the whole front stretch and a clear view of the track other than a couple poles on the grandstand side of the fence. The stands were a bit narrow, and people who brought stadium seats did not help the tight quarters. Maybe a size limit or a non backed seat cushion would help. I don't know what the crowd looks like on a normal night of racing, but when it's packed (like Saturday), it can be tight.
The pa sounded good. You could hear what the announcer was saying. They did a great job on the mic also.
The food was pretty good also. The cheeseburger was tasty and priced very well compared to other tracks. They also had meal deals for the low price of 8 bucks. The line did get pretty long at one point of the night. They also have a beer shed and a candy stand. Merchandise was also on sale from race teams, and for the track it's self. A nice selection of merchandise and good prices.
The facility was clean and had plenty of trash cans. The bathrooms were also very nice. Clean and well stocked. Actual toilets and not the portapottys like some tracks offer.
The show ran smoothly and without a lot of downtime. There were a couple of delays that were out of the tracks control. A medical emergency and a few cars that flipped and took time to safely clean up. For the most part, the next race was ready to roll out when the previous one ended. They even did track work several times over the course of the night.
All in all, it's a great track. The only issue I noticed, other than what was already mentioned, would be fans standing right up to the catch fence while cars are running on track. It is a safety issue, and it blocks people from being able to see. It's great that you want to cheer on your driver. Just do it from your seat.
Unfortunately, Montpelier Motor Speedway is a 3 hour drive for me, so weekly visits will not be an option. But I will definitely make...
ย ย ย Read moreI've been coming to the track since 2014, raced for 4 years and now a track official going on 5. We generally run 5 main classes, midgets, modifieds, super streets, street stocks thunder cars and hornets (front wheel drives). Through the racing season we have a few sprint cars series show up, BOSS and steel blocks sprints, dirt track truck series and new to 2023 season crown vics. This 2023 racing season, the track is promoted by Chad king and we are working as hard as we can to keep the show nice and steady, we have had some bumps in the road but are always working to smooth them out It's a nice 1/4 mile layout with...
ย ย ย Read moreMontpelier Speedway might be the best bang for your buck in all of racing! Entry has always been under 20 bucks, concessions are also more than reasonable, ESPECIALLY when you consider the Milkman meal deals they run, typically giving you a very good portion of food for cheaper than any value meal at your favorite drive though! I also can NOT forget to mention how great it is that they keep it to 4 classes meaning you can watch all those amazing feature races and get home in time to get some decent rest for your Sunday morning sermons! ๐ Can't say enough great things about...
