Morrow Point Dam is a fantastic spot to visit! The views are spectacular with dramatic rocky cliffs rising up from the river valley. The pedestrian bridge over the river gives you an amazing vantage point to take in the scenery and snap some great photos. The parking area is convenient and well-maintained, making it easy to access. It's a perfect stop for anyone wanting to stretch their legs and experience some of Colorado's impressive landscape. Whether you're just passing through or planning to spend some time by the water, it's definitely worth checking out. The combination of the dam, river, and surrounding mountains makes for a really unique setting.

The Morrow Point Dam is at the base of the Mesa Creek Trail, and in all honesty, it is one of my favorite hikes in all of Colorado. It is simple, easy, has well established trails, and lots of trees for shade on hot sunny days, offers some great views, and is dog friendly. Really, what more could one ask for from a trail? I would highly recommend everyone try out this hike and DEFINITELY take the time to visit the bottom of the dam. It was such a great pit stop on the drive from Gunnison National Park back to Colorado Springs.

Of the 3 dams on the Gunnison in this area, this was the most imposing to see from below, as well as the one you could see best from below (can't get quite as close at Crystal Dam, and Blue Mesa Dam just looked like a big rock pile, though, admittedly, the best we could do there was the overlook off CO-92). You can't drive atop it, nor can you walk right up to it, but still cool to see from the Mesa Creek Trail.
