South Branch Potomac Lanes — Local services in Moorefield

The place is fine. The website is awful. They have pricing all over the place and you have no idea how much it’ll cost. They list cosmic bowling as Friday and Sat. nights from 6-10 at a price of $40/lane/hr. But the specials page says it’s $10/person or $50/lane for up to 5-6 people (can’t remember exactly the maximum number of people, as it didn’t apply to us). They don’t say if there are only certain times the specials are available . They don’t mention if these prices are per game, per hour or what. All I know is that we (3 people) arrived at 6:45 and were charged $80 for 2 hours on the lane. If the special were honored as it’s written, it should have only been $10 each, $30 for the entire evening. The site says Sundays are family day and it’s $14/lane/hour, but somehow I don’t think that’s what we’d be charged. $80 for 3 people to bowl for 2 hours seems quite steep to me. Almost every mechanical breakdown I can think of happened. Lost half a game completely. Should not have had to argue to restart the time or for another 5 minutes to finish the last frame when many more minutes than that were spent waiting for the half dozen or so fixes. Should have heard apologies or seen some more proactive assistance when things were so obviously stuck mid game (e.g. balls not coming back, pins not coming down), particularly given we were the only ones bowling for most of the time. I have been here multiple times with my wife and absolutely love the experience every time. The customer service is great all the employees are nice and quick to answer any questions you have and as soon as we go to the counter we are immediately asked how can we help and we appreciate that very much. I went to golden lanes tonight in Petersburg for the first time with my wife and we did not get any of that at all. We will no longer be going to golden lanes.
