My family was driving through NC in torrential downpour. We had left that morning from Western NY and we’re driving home to Darlington SC. It had been raining horribly on and off for the entire drive. We had been going slow, driving with traffic, keeping good space between cars and using our four ways. Near the Mt Airy exit on 52, the car in front of us began to break, so we also started to slow - with plenty of room between us to not have to slam on the breaks. Unfortunately, the car behind us did not break. They crashed directly into us, forcing us off the road and into the ditch. Neither car were drivable afterwards. My brand new SUV was hit so hard by a sedan that the spare tire and read suspension coil were yanked from underneath and were back by the car that hit us. My entire muffler lay in the ditch. Not only were we still hours from home but “home” had only been home since October of 2021 and we had no idea what we should do. The NC Trooper we dealt with was wonderful and he called Massey’s Towing for us. The owner - Tyler - came to our rescue. The Trooper said we could be taken to a hotel or a gas station to wait (the 3+ hours in decent weather) for our ride to get there. Mr Massey was not having that. Not only did he offer to let us hang out at his shop for however long we needed to stay, but he also had his wife, Hannah, come pick us up so our 5 year old could be in a safe car seat. We stayed at their shop from around 5:30 pm until almost 11pm. Once our ride got there, Tyler and Hannah both helped us move our luggage from my SUV into our rides SUV. Tyler and Hannah gave us so much information on the way laws work in NC - NY is a “no fault” state so we had absolutely no idea how the handle insurance claims and whatnot down here. Tyler answered every question we had, shared snacks and drinks with us and let our kiddo watch as much Netflix as she wanted. We could have been stranded with a child at a gas station waiting for our ride for hours in the rain and dark, but instead we were safely inside Massey’s Towing - completely warm and dry. Tyler and Hannah both offered numerous times to go get us dinner somewhere. They were absolutely wonderful. We were nervous about how everything would work with the insurance adjuster since we lived in SC. Mr. Massey promised he would not release our vehicle to anyone without personally speaking to us and two days later, he held completely true to his word. I cannot recommend this company more. I wish we had the ability to rate them as 10/5 stars. If you’re ever in that area and need a tow, working with Massey’s Towing and Recovery will be easy and a pleasure. We are...
Read moreWhat A Scammer! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! Our RV broke down on a busy interstate .. RV overheated and engine belt broke. Good Sam Roadside Assistance sent Massey Mobile mechanics to replace our broken belt. We measured the broken belt , called Massey to tell them to bring an 83 inch belt. They arrived with a 75 inch belt ... it didn't fit! The 2 'mechanics' left to get another belt, returned with the same 75 inch belt ... of course it still didn't fit. They left again to get another belt and returned with a 81 inch belt .. of course it also didn't fit! Massey mechanics then informed us there was nothing further they could do, which they did nothing, and that we owed them $600 plus $30 if we wanted to use a credit card! We were still stranded along a busy interstate for over 7 hours .. we paid them!! We then had to call Good Sam Roadside Assistance back and asked to be towed! After 12 hours alongside the interstate, we were finally towed 6 miles to a RV Repair Shop , at midnight. Next morning when Repair Shop opened, they were able to secure an 83 inch engine belt and we were on our way within one hour. DO NOT USE MASSEY ... we did not choose them, our insurance company, Good Sam Roadside Assistance recommended and sent them. Massey did nothing and charged us $630. Good Sam Roadside Assistance denied any responsibility for sending an unqualified company. RESPONSE TO MR MASSEY (OWNER): You are totally lying sir! We gave you the exact size of our serpentine engine belt: 83" when we called you before your mechanics left and yet they arrived with 75" belt which didn't fit. There was no misinformation on our part! The mechanic who did fix it, installed an 83" belt which fit perfect. What a way to run a business Mr Owner! I would suggest you consider reimbursing us the $630 you...
Read moreIf there’s another option available to you, please, PLEASE use that option instead. How these guys are on the highway patrol rotation I’ll never know because they didn’t abide by the same rules and regulations that I read online (you can google it). First, they charged storage for the day they towed the car… not supposed to do that. They charged storage for that following weekend after implying that we couldn’t get the car till the next Monday (not supposed to do that either) Said they’d stay open an hour late to avoid that extra two days charge where we couldn’t get the car. All fine and well but by regulation we’re supposed to be able to get our car 7 days a week 8-5 except state holidays. It wasn’t a holiday. God forbid you get in an accident, but if you do and they come up in the rotation, try anything you can to get your car home, push it if you have to. If for some reason you have to leave your car in their “storage” for any length of time longer than four days, id say just get the pen out and sign the title over. Almost $800 for a tow and a weeks worth of storage for us and when we paid the bill we still had to wait 4-5 more days to get the car back… terrible company and non existent customer service.
One thing I forgot to mention, bring cash if you do business with them because even though it’s 2021 they charge extra to use a debit card. My surcharge was going to be $30 (in case you’re wondering this also isn’t supposed to happen according to visa.com) Crazy... In fact, here’s just how far I’ll go to avoid using these guys. When I first went to pay our bill I decided to go to the atm to avoid the ridiculous $30 debit fee. well low and behold my crankshaft sensor went out about a half mile down the road. I called a different tow service and got excellent service and that’s who I’m sticking with...
