Mt Airy Meat Center — Local services in Mount Airy

Best place to get your meats! They have ribeye, T-Bone, NY strip steaks and the VERY best hamburger! There are also a lot of local restaurants that buy their meat from the Mt Airy Meat Center. They have chicken, bacon, ham, pork chops and even some seafood items. And if you need buns for your hamburgers or hot dogs, you can pick them up too! We also love the BBQ that they sale. And for the sweet tooth, they have old fashioned candy in individual bags! But the best thing at the Meat Center, besides the hamburger, is the wonderful owners and their employees! I love going in each week and they know what I am going to purchase. And if you happen to buy a lot like myself, they will even take it to your car! I would rather support a locally owned business like this over a big box...

Thumb nail: it's worth the ride. (Closed for lunch from 1 to 2). Chicken, pork and beef cuts. Natural casing dogs, red dogs, frozen and prepared cuts, bacon, sausage, etc. I did not see lamb - but maybe I just did not see it. My brother got awesome filet mignon - cut beautifully. I got dogs, thick bacon and porterhouse steaks. Did you hear me?? Porterhouse steaks. Inch thick, nicely marbled. Grilled it up for supper... tender and perfect. (Greens and tomatoes from my garden with balsamic... am I the only one that thinks balsamic sets off a steak?) If you don't see what you want, they will cut what you need while you wait. Super...

They have a great selection of quality meat, but be careful about the hours. I called in an order and said I'd be there about lunch time to pick it up. Pulled in at 1:05 and watched the last of the employees leave the front door going to lunch. I waited until after 2 for them to get back from lunch. Since I am from 45 minutes away, it was frustrating since the hrs don't say anything about being closed for lunch and the person I placed my order with, didn't say anything about being closed for an hour. Call before you go...
