There is a great selection here of fresh fruit and vegetables, country ham, cheese, and sweets. There are cut trees for Christmas and even some live hanging flower baskets. There are open boxes of fruit and veggies sitting outside in a covered area, but the main section with ham, jars of jam, and candy is closed in with plastic.
Everyone we saw inside was wearing a mask, but it didn't seem they were restricting the number of people inside. It was difficult to social distance.
Various sizes of fruit baskets with cheese or jam were available. We bought a basket for a gift plus a bag of oranges, a couple grapefruit, tomatoes, and apples. There are lots of baked goods including breads and sweet choices like rolls, pie, and many types of candy. I saw some old fashioned candy and fudge to name a couple of the vast array. They also had bags of mixed nuts, walnuts, pecans, etc.
Near the ham and cheese section were barrels of beans you could buy by the pound. I saw some cider and apple juice.
Some people were making their own custom selection of fruits, nuts, etc. in gift boxes.
This place is great for stocking up on fresh items for yourself or choosing gifts for others! (The only reason for 4 * s instead of 5 was the lack of restricting number of...
Read moreI LOVE this place! I was having trouble finding produce grown in the USA. Even though apple trees are all over the place, the grocery store only had apples from China! They only had oranges from Africa. But this place had apples from orchards in 3 different states and oranges from Florida and California. Almost everything is grown or made in the USA. It's the perfect country store. All kinds of very fresh produce and fruit. All kinds of dried beans, peas and fruit. Jams, jellies and preserves... regular and sugar free. Honey from different locations. The flowers that are abundant in locations affect the flavor of honey. Right now they have gift boxed sliced country ham. They they have so many delectable country treats. Candies, jerkies, apple cider. By the pound. By the bushel. Piles of pumpkins and gourds in season. Seasonal melons and flowers. Don't know what to get someone for Christmas? Chose a red and green bushel basket and fill it with some of a thousand wonderful items. They have different sizes that you won't have any trouble filling with things they'll love. You may have trouble making...
Read moreLocally known as, "The State Line", Virginia Carolina Enterprises has really cool fruits and vegetables! This place is about the largest selection of fresh produce I've ever seen! A cousin of mine told me that the area around Cana, Virginia has the largest amount of produce traffic in the USA going through it.
This is a great place to pick up produce of almost any sort and flowers that are in season. Peaches, pumpkins, apples and grapes were all over the place a couple of weeks ago.
There are things here I've never even heard of, such as spicy pickled eggs and all types of jams, preserves, and candies. Fresh butter and meats also proliferate.
My only constructive criticism would be that they could benefit from suggestive selling. It seemed as though most of the employees stayed behind the counter and merely responded to inquiries. The location however, would be great to introduce travelers to new types of food, for example... pickled eggs, which I've never had, but there are certainly...
