Dollar General — Local services in Mount Morris Township

One of my favorite places to shop at. The store is clean, well stocked and organized. 99% of the time I find what I'm looking for. The prices are lower than the grocery store here in town, can he lower than Walmart and comparable to Dollar Tree on some items. Although I prefer DG items over DT items based on quality. Obviously, the refrigerated and frozen section is a huge bonus for me. I have specific items that I buy on a consistent basis because of the price. Significantly lower than the grocery store and slightly lower than Walmart. But hey, every little bit counts. I have to mention Alexis. She's absolutely fantastic. She's so friendly and she actually remembered me which made my day. She definitely deserves to be recognized for her level of customer service that goes above and beyond. I want to say why I didn't give it 5 stars. The self check out has become nonexistent. There's only one cashier every single time that I've ever seen and the line of customers is at least 8-10 people long. To me, this is completely unacceptable. What is the purpose of the self check out if customers aren't even allowed to use them? Then we're stuck standing in line with our frozen and refrigerated food for who knows how long. That's my only complaint but it's a big one that needs to be addressed. Is this an individual store issue or a corporate issue? I'd really like to know. I can always depend on Dollar General for my quick shopping needs at competitive prices with the bigger stores and not have to to drive far to the big city. It's conveniently located on the edge of my small rural town which saves important time and money of driving far- enables more important time withy loved ones. I'm always impressed with the merchandise Dollar General carries at excellent quality, style, trend and volume- whether it's food, hardware, household items, school supplies, cards, healthcare items, seasonal decor, and clothing- the baby clothes especially cute as can be! Your corporate headquarters is doing a great job job in it's marketing, buyers and logistics departments- just keep it up with consumer needs. Lastly the best part of my review is the staff- always friendly and very helpful no matter which store l shop at all over Illinois or other states l travel. CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS please know this: Dollar General employees work very hard mantaining high volume of merchandise and customer service they provide. Your workers are always curtious and helpful - no matter how long the customer waiting line is at the cash register during peak shopping times. I hope your management at Corporate give your store employees perks and bonuses as acknowledgement of their hard high quality work! The staff are super friendly and I can usually find what I need. I have two things I want to address. The first is that when they get a delivery the carts are placed all over the store in a line and you can't get to anything behind them as it's too heavy and there's not enough room to even move them. I know it's not really the stores or employees fault, but they need to have someone just for putting away what comes in on the deliveries. Second, I have a service dog. She's well trained and well behaved, she does her job well. This is the only place I have ever had an issue with bringing her in. They want paperwork for the dog. There is no paperwork, no special card- nothing is required by law as there is no registry that exists. All of the ones you see online mean nothing. I've tried to explain and show them the law, but they just say that's what the boss needs. I can go 5 miles to the other Dollar General and they don't even say a word about her.
