You know it's going to be good when you get out of your vehicle and hear polka music!!! On my return from Colorado fishing trip deciding to avoid Dallas/ Ft Worth traffic and going a trip into my past . I decided to stop in a real German meat market and was I in for a delightful surprise. There was real old fashion meat market with German sausage that only can be compared to a trip back to " father land." I had to purchase a cooler to haul my bounty to deep east Texas. The cashier was so kind and helpful making sure my purchase was packed with care. A young lady made sure everything was in cooler with ice and my pickles was in a box for travel. In today's world of hurrying and box stores what a pleasure to meet such wonderful people that really seemed to enjoy their job. Everyone was smiling and greeted me as I was the most important person in the world. It's sad it's 300 miles from my home. PS : it's the best sausage and pickles since my childhood and that includes my military...
Read moreWow these guys are slipping. They screwed up my order, which is an hour drive from my place so it would be 2 more hours to return everything. They were out of fresh bacon, which I always get during this very long road trip. The lady behind the meat counter screwed up an order for Colby longhorn which is all yellow. She cut colby jack instead. Clearly not listening as I saw the colby jack and specified longhorn. After she messed up I was being a good guy and said I'll take it. Then I handed her a pound of plain summer sausage but she didn't cut it and grabbed something from behind the counter instead. After I got home it was jalapeño and cheese sausage which I threw in the trash. The worst part was my two choice ribeyes that I paid 35.00 for were 1 ribeye and 1 new your strip, which I hate. I hate getting burned when I pay a premium for food plus all the gas. I'm done with these guys. Avoid this place or you'll just find yourself as...
Read moreI recently had a half-cow processed here, and have been very disappointed with the processing. Every package of ground beef I have opened so far (several) has contained large chunks of tendon and ligaments. Even after going through each package by hand (I learned after the first two) and picking out the bigger chunks, my teeth are always finding more. This is the most poorly processed ground beef I have ever had the misfortune of owning. The animal was very poorly and hastily trimmed with zero attention to the details. Packaging is decent, but the steaks are a similar hack job. The “sirloin” steaks are mostly bone. I don’t even know how they did that. Who cuts meat like that!? These people have no idea what they are doing. Did I mention they add food dye (red #3, recently banned by the FDA for causing cancer) to their sausage? Smoked cheese is the only good product I have found in the store. Never getting an animal...
