I bought an engagement ring for my now wife from J L Winters Jewelers. I am no jewelry expert nor do I buy many jewelry pieces. So I looked up jewelers in the surrounding area and J L Winters had pretty good reviews so I went there. I bought a ring and it was well over the $1,000 or $2,000 range so basically, I'm saying I spend a decent amount so you would think they would work with you a little more than a $100 ring that I could have bought. However, the ring was ordered and everything went pretty good as expected until we want back to get it resized and have stone fixed that was loose. When I bought the ring I asked several times does a resizing come free just encase I'm off on the size. They (the salesman and lady sitting back behind the wall) repeatedly told me yes. My wife said yes after the proposal :-) and the ring was just a little to tight so we need to get it just a little bigger. Like a half size or less so not much. We stopped in at the store and they initially told me no they would not resize it. I told them I asked times when I bought the ring and the guy and the same lady now telling me no now, told me yes several times why I bought the ring. I was not pleased you could say. They finally said yes but they would charge for rhodium dipping because of the ring type. I said once again you told me I would get one free resizing. They again said they would charge me for some of the work and still did not want to do the work anyway. After about 20 minutes of discussion, we walked out. On a different visit after about 1 month of my wife wearing the ring one of the diamonds was loose. We both stopped in and told them a diamond was loose. The held the ring and again said no, there were no diamonds lose. We said yes there is and you can hear it when you lightly tap it on the top. She then lightly tapped the top of the diamond and cold hear it hitting the base where it sits. She said they would have to send it off to get it repaired. We said ok but I would be about a month before we would get it back. A little ridiculous for just repairing a loose stone but anyways we got it back and have since got the ring resized at a much better jeweler. My wife and I will never return to J.L. Winters or recommend anybody else to give them business. I would be careful at this place especially after you give them your money that they will not hold up to their end as promised.
P.S. - After learning more about there business, they do none of their work jewelry work at their place of business in Muncy. J L Winters contracts all of their jewelry work. They are like a window store that just sells jewelry. I would recommend going to an actual goldsmith and you will still probably pay the...
Read moreMy wife and I have been going to J.L. Winters for many years! Tyler is who we always deal with and he is absolutely amazing! I just can't say enough good about him or the business. He is always so kind and welcoming! He is so patient with us! He is just such an awesome person not to mention extremely knowledgeable! When we picked out my wife's ring - we spent hours there! Then we had to pick out the center stone and that was a process! He was beyond patient with us. He answered all of our questions and also explained how diamonds are graded. He never got annoyed with us at all during the process. He made us feel like we were family! Then we went in months later and picked out my ring as well as the wedding bands that we wanted for our rings. We were not happy with the one that went with my wife's band so yet again - Tyler gets all of these bands out and patiently goes through them with us and helps us pick out the perfect bands! Over 3 hours we spent with him and again....we had his full undivided attention! Never making us feel rushed or anything like that! If you are looking for quality jewelry, an awesome selection, and top notch customer service then J.L. Winters is the only stop you will need to make. We will never shop anywhere else for our jewelry needs! Thank you to Tyler and J.L. Winters for always being so good to us! We really appreciate it!
And on a side note - the 5 year interest free financing that they offer is an...
Read moreAn employee over the phone told me they would be able to give me the prices of some jewelry I had so I could sell them. When I came into the store, I felt immediately out of place. No one greeted me, I had to ask for help, and they wouldn’t give me prices for my jewelry because “they don’t buy sterling” even though I wasn’t looking to sell it to them. They at least cleaned the jewelry for me, albeit not very well. Jodi and her family are long time family friends of ours, and everyone who works there knows my mom, so this was really off-putting coming from them. It’s like they knew they wouldn’t be making any money off of me, so they had no interest or care for my needs. Certainly won’t be going here for an engagement ring in the future...
