When my propane fireplace insert was purchased and installed from Heating World a year and two months ago, I was pleased with their service. They took care of me on very short notice and all went smoothly. The sales and installation guys were good and the fireplace unit was just what I wanted, beautiful. Within a few weeks, I started noticing issues with the fireplace and the remote thermostat. The flame, first, was so high and deep orange, even set on low it almost touched the top of the box. It wasn’t excessively run, yet the glass quickly turned completely black with soot. I was afraid it would shatter. I called and the guy came out and cleaned the fireplace and corrected the flame to the right level. He gave me a cleaning bill at first that he took back when he realized it was their error. The overdialed flame had already damaged the interior of the firebox though. The metal surround on the unit seems like the thinnest possible material to contain a fire. It bangs and pops like crazy when it turns on and off. The remote is also poorly designed and programmed on the Chaska model. The buttons aren’t clearly labeled unless you press one to light it up, so you have to memorize them. Default flame height without the thermostat is High every time, no last setting memory, and the remote often doesn’t respond to turn it down, even if you hit the right button, which it’s easy not to. The fireplace doesn’t start when the thermostat says it should, shuts off when it shouldn’t, turns on and off like every minute sometimes, smart mode does that a lot. I had hoped this would be a reliable temperature controlled unit to assist with heating part of my home, but I don’t trust it overnight or unattended. I had the technician out again a few months ago, he of course didn’t have a new remote on hand, but said I may need one. Finally I lost all temperature controls on the remote and called last week (third time) to finally get this resolved, at 14 months of ownership. The technician arrived and configured the new remote. I have the thermostat back, but it’s the same bad programming. At the end, I was surprised when he told me I would owe for the mileage and labor even after he called billing to explain the history. There was going to be a charge too for the new remote because it’s only 12 months warranty, but they took that off. It was still a lot of money for me. I left a phone message days ago and have not heard back. If I had it to do over again, I would have paused and done more research. I’m let down at the overall product quality of the Kozy Heat brand and the higher customer service level at Heating World, but the extra star is for the service and sales people. The best outcome here would be a new different fireplace that works...
Read morePurchased a multi fuel furnace from them about 3 years ago. Recently had a lot of trouble with smoking so I called to have a “professional” come and check it out. Turns out there was a huge build up of creosote, apparently I wasn’t keeping the fires hot enough to prevent this- tech says he’ll clean it out. He was so focused and accusatory of their previous tech who was out in JULY to do the routine cleaning. 6 months prior. He was more focused on accusing his co worker of not properly cleaning the furnace in July than he was of my house burning down! The furnace has been in use from October to mid January when this smoking problem came up. I also had a chimney service come out to clean the chimney. When they took the flue pipe off, you could hear the crusty stuff in there. The chimney guy looked at the furnace and informed me he would never have operated this furnace like this. I informed him that heating world was out 3 days ago! What an education I got! I now know how to clean my own furnace. I’ll get another company to service the oil side of the furnace. I’ll never have them back out—I’ve heard negative things about this business apparently...
Read moreBought coal/ wood burner. Had them install it. When putting hot air duct in they didn't finish it and stopped 14 feet short. One worker said they ran out of materials. When we asked about it they said that's what they were told to do. Somebody lied. We argued and ended up getting very little back and finished it ourselves. Then found they had installed the thermostat at wrong place couldn't get the filter out. The came and changed it now leaving extra holes drilled into the back of our brand new furnace. Been alittle over 4 months and fan won't shut off. Called they said it might be covered under warranty but would still have to pay for labor and mileage. Wish we would have never gotten anything from them. All about getting the money not about...
