I've been to this location on several occasions, it's a bit out of my way from closer venues, but this place occasionally shows movies that aren't playing anywhere else nearby. The theater itself is very clean and handsome in appearance. However upon my my last two most recent visits, I have been severely let down by the quality of both the feature presentation as well as the staff working at the theater. I went to see Karate Kid Legends today, and the on-screen image was significantly out-of-focus and the sound was at a frustratingly low volume. I've seen movies in this particular auditorium before on more than one occasion, and it has never looked nor sounded this bad. During the previews I went up to the concession stand to let the staff (specifically the manager) know that the image was blurry. The manager was completely unresponsive, however he appeared to head toward the entrance to the projection booth. The image situation was never resolved and I watched the entire movie out of focus. Near the end of the movie, the same manager popped in very rudely into the auditorium with a trash can and proceed to stand by the side of the auditorium until the movie ended. It should be noted that I was the ONLY person watching the movie for that particular showtime, so it wasn't like there was any sort of mess to clean up (I hadn't even bought any concessions). None of the staff showed any minimal amount of courtesy or politeness that I'm used to seeing in general when I go to the movies (which I do every week). The manager didn't say a single word to me. Not "thanks for coming" or "goodnight" and especially not "Sorry we couldn't fix the picture for you." He didn't smile. Nothing. The rest of the staff I saw that day were chatting very loudly with each other and not paying attention to approaching customers like myself to wait on. Debating with myself if I want to revisit this location again in lieu of all this. It's not worth the time and gas mileage to go out of my way to see exclusive movies here under such poor...
Read moreOur favorite place to enjoy movies! We have been regular customers here since the Palms has opened and highly recommend to our friends and family. We are within a 30 minute drive to four main communities in eastern Iowa and this is our choice for movies hands down. It is easily accessible right off the by-pass and traffic or parking is never an issue. Their concession prices are within line of other theaters and there is a wide variety of quality options to suit any movie fan. Our favorite is the salted pretzel with cheese! They have multiple screen options with roomy and comfy seats - some screen rooms even have arm rests that lift up in case you need a little more room. Even with a family member that had a leg brace - accessibility has never been an issue. The facilities are always clean and neat, which isn't an easy feat considering how some people are unusually sloppy with popcorn. We have only had one instance of a rude patron and considering how often we have been here, we find that a relief considering the patron conduct we've experienced on a regular basis at other cinemas before coming here. The staff here are professional and courteous and if there is the very rare instance of a minor concern, it is well handled. If you're looking for a place to enjoy movies, please give the...
Read moreI haven't been to the movie theater for years because I use the closed captioning at home so I've always just waited for the movie to come out on video. But I wanted to take my granddaughter to see Bohemian Rhapsody and I was so excited when I saw that the Palms had closed captioning. It's really neat how it works you just put on a pair of special glasses and the words show up while you're looking at the movie! So for half of the movie it was great but then the glasses quit working and the last half of the movie I was winging it. When I returned them and I told the young gentleman behind the counter that they quit working halfway through he just looked puzzled. So I will definitely try this again but I will call ahead first and either make sure they're charged or find out what needs to be done on my end for a more...
