I tried Cousins Maine Lobster Pensacola (Food Truck) and ordered the Connecticut Roll—a warm lobster roll drenched in butter on a hot-dog-sized bun. While they claim it has 4oz of lobster meat, the size caught me off guard, especially for $22 + tax. It’s definitely a premium experience, but at that price/size, it’s more of a snack than a meal unless you upgrade to a combo.

The flavor was good, but not extraordinary. The lobster was fresh and delicious, though a bit on the bland side. The roll had a nice buttery texture without being overly toasted, which was a plus. I added the tater tots to make it a combo, and those came in a generous portion. They were probably crispy when fresh, but after a 15-minute drive home, they got slightly soggy from condensation—something to keep in mind if you’re taking food to go.

One hiccup: when I got home, I realized the drink from my combo wasn’t in the bag. If you order a combo, double-check you’ve got everything before you leave.

Looking back, I think I’d skip the lobster roll next time and go for their lobster tots. It’s a better deal at $18—about half the lobster portion (2oz) but paired with a mountain of tots and sauces, which makes it much more flavorful and filling.

Overall, the experience wasn’t bad, but it didn’t blow me away either. The biggest drawback is the cost for the portion size. That said, I understand lobster is very expensive, so it’s not entirely on the food truck. If you’re craving lobster, just be prepared to splurge, and definitely add the tots if you want to leave satisfied.

On the bright side, the service was excellent, and the staff was super friendly, which added a nice touch to...

We have enjoyed a lobster roll at Cousins restaurant in Jacksonville, Florida. While there, we read about their food truck which runs in the Florida Panhandle.

We have now eaten at the food truck on two occasions. Their menu is not identical to the restaurant. But, more importantly, they do have the lobster roll sandwiches.

I was not sure how it would work from a food truck. It worked well. The locations where the food truck will be vary. There is an app that shows the locations and times it will be there. We have tracked it down in two different locations in Santa Rosa Beach.

We both ordered the Connecticut Roll. The lobster roll was filled with Maine lobster. The meat was cooked perfectly. The roll itself had butter and appeared to be lightly grilled.

It was delicious. I could have eaten two of them.

One option includes "tater tots" and a drink. Another option includes potato chips and a drink. The first time we both ordered the tater tots. It was too much to eat. The second time we just ordered the lobster rolls and were happy with it.

On our last visit, it was very hot. The truck was not too far from Hogtown Bayou. We drove there and sat at a picnic table overlooking the water in a shaded picnic stand. It was a beautiful setting with a delicious meal. Having grown up in New England, and having been on a lobster boat in New Hampshire as a boy, I have an appreciation for lobster that is cooked perfectly.

I anticipate tracking the truck down again in the near future. The rolls are not inexpensive but I may still order...

Portion size does not match pricing. I put the lemon wedge next to the roll so you can get an idea of size. The Main was in a light slab of mayo, no seasoning or fixings in the mix. The smallest lobster rolls you will ever eat not consistent in what you would find on the east coast or maine. Check out my other reviews on lobster rolls. These lobster rolls are not worth $22. I would pay $14 on a good day. The scanner was "broken" so I could not get the loyalty points. The Connecticut lobster was lacking in flavor and butter. I ordered the lobster tacos, which were street taco sized, 2 bites and the taco was gone. For $18 these tacos also lacked portion to size. The tots had no flavor and no SALT! Seriously how do you mess up tator tots???!!! The portion size of the tots is the only thing that was right. Spent over $75 for $40 worth of food. I will not be spending my hard earned money at this lackluster food truck. There are way better options out there for lobster rolls. Avoid this food truck if you can, you will be sorry if you buy any rolls or tacos. The look of disappointment...
