Long story... So back in September, I bought a hog from a local guy. Asked him if he could take it to my normal processor up in Golden City (They do GREAT work!). He called me back and said they were booked until after the new year. I asked him if he knew of any other processing places. He mentioned there was one in Neosho, but had never used them. He called Gateway and they had an opening. He dropped off the hog. They called and asked how I wanted the hog processed. I gave them my order. Several days later, they called and said it was ready. When I arrived to pick it up, I asked if they were USDA. The stated they hoped to be soon (big red flag). Then the helper told me that during the packaging process, its normal for the packaging to be punctured by the bone or by handling and to use that meat first (this is not the first time I have had meat processed and have NEVER been told that before.). When I got home and unloaded it into the freezer, I noticed that the bacon was all wadded up in a ball. I called to ask about this. The person on the other end said they don't have an fancy, expensive machine to cut bacon and that is just how it is (see picture). I was not pleased with this response. I called back and talked to the owner. He was very nice and said that he would process another hog and lay out the bacon neatly. He also said he knows how difficult it is to separate the bacon pieces when its in a ball. He stated he should have something in the next few weeks. A month later, I called back, and he still did not have the replacement bacon. Now it is December and still no replacement. I want to use local companies and I want to give them a chance. That is why I have waited so long to leave this review. The owner still has a chance to make this right. If so, I will update this review.

I recently tried deer snack sticks from Gateway Meat Co, and they’ve quickly become one of my favorite snacks. They offer a perfect blend of flavors and textures that make them a standout choice for anyone who enjoys venison. The taste is robust and savory without being overpowering, and the salt content is balanced perfectly, enhancing the natural flavor of the venison without making it too salty. Overall, deer snack sticks from Gateway Meat Co are a delicious and convenient way to enjoy venison. They are well-seasoned, perfectly textured, and make for a great snack option. I highly recommend them to anyone.

I called several times before I took my animal to be processed to find out the price and procedure, wrote all the info down and called back to verify. Showed up to drop my animal off on a Wednesday before 5 as I was told only to be told it had to be scheduled. They never told me this during any of our phone calls. They did go ahead and take it though. But I received a call about a week later to tell me it was ready and a price. We went to pick it up and were told that it wasn’t ready. They had no idea what happened. When it was finally ready for pick up another week later, we weren’t given all of the meat or the fat from it. We are so...
